Are you designing for the right market?

Because even the strongest artwork can fall flat if it’s not created—or presented—with the right audience in mind.

Every corner of the surface design world—from interiors and apparel to paper goods and beyond—comes with its own creative expectations, technical processes, pricing realities, production timelines, and preferences for how artwork is sourced or developed. When you know the differences, you design smarter, pitch with more confidence, and start landing opportunities that actually fit your goals.

Join me and Ashley Presutti Beasley for a live Pattern Chatter chat:

🗓 Friday, October 17 | 12pm PST
💬 Know Your Market: Choosing the Right Surface Design Path

You’ll learn:
✨ The creative + technical differences across markets
✨ How production methods and file prep shape design decisions
✨ What buyers actually look for in artwork development
✨ How to tailor your portfolio for real opportunities

🎥 Replay available inside the Pattern Chatter Facebook Group after the live call.

Today, we’re celebrating another year of love, creative growth, and navigating this ever-evolving life—together. 💛

Joe and I met at a birthday party a mutual friend threw for someone neither of us actually knew at the time. 😂 But somehow, through conversation, we discovered a whole web of shared connections: people he had worked with were friends I’d gone to school with, and one of his former roommates had lived in the same upperclass housing as me.

The overlaps were wild—and apparently convincing. A couple of our friends (including the one who threw the party!) even placed bets that we’d end up getting married one day. Safe to say... they were right.

It’s been a journey filled with belly laughs, quirky inside jokes, creative detours, parenting challenges, and curveballs we never saw coming. Through all of it, Joe has been my biggest supporter—pushing me to pursue my goals, cheering me on through every big idea, and offering a shoulder to cry on when the overwhelm inevitably hits.

To anyone out there building a creative life with a partner who understands your weird brain, your big dreams, and your need for both space and support—I see you. I know it’s not always easy, but having someone in your corner can change everything.

✨ Here’s to the people who help us stay grounded when life spins.

✨ Here’s to shared dreams, mutual encouragement, and the quiet support that makes big things possible.

✨ Big news! I’m thrilled to officially welcome Ashley Beasley of .design as a co-host and moderator of the Pattern Chatter Facebook group! 🎉

Ashley and I first met through our Minted Buddy Group in 2023 and became fast friends—we even roomed together at Camp Minted that summer. Over the past couple of years, we’ve bonded deeply over our love of surface design, creative exploration outside our day jobs, and the magic of cheering each other (and our community!) on. 💗

Ashley is a talented designer with a sharp eye for pattern, color, and product design. She’s been in the creative industry for over 13 years and launched her surface design journey in 2019 with her Spoonflower shop—now you can find her patterns across platforms like Hawthorne Supply Co, Minted, Funky Paper Co, and more. She also works full-time as a soft-side product designer at Igloo Coolers, where she blends trend forecasting, color, and construction specs into seriously fun products. 🎨🧊

When she’s not designing, Ashley is encouraging fellow artists through The Design Pursuit, a platform she created to support creatives through monthly resources and heartfelt encouragement. Her passion for community-building makes her the perfect fit to help guide our Pattern Chatter conversations.

We’re so excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to welcome even more voices into the fold. 💬

Today might be April Fools’ Day, but this is no joke:

I’m back.

Back to creating, sharing, supporting, and reconnecting.
Last year was… a lot.

There were beautiful highs—like teaching some incredible classes, creating new artwork, and getting editors picks a few Minted challenges.

There were also some really hard moments—hospital stays, job loss, tech chaos, fires too close to home…

But through it all, creativity kept me going.

And now, I’m stepping back in with renewed energy and a heart full of purpose.

This month I’ll be sharing what I’ve been working on behind the scenes—from portfolio tips and new art to a sneak peek at something exciting I’m building for creatives like YOU.

So if you’re seeing this—thank you for hanging around. I’ve missed this space, and I’m ready to reconnect.
