Industrial cable waste which I’ve never seen before. What a tangled beautiful mess that I can’t stop thinking about.

One of three pieces so far from 2025. Two more in the works and a lot more to come.
Desert Bloom 23.5 x 55 acrylic oil pastel on canvas, latex on wood panel.
It’s on view along with another painting and this rad rug I designed until the end of the month in Oakland at Melina Finkelstein showroom.

Eeek! Shared this in stories but it deserves a permanent place here too. I’m still so tickled that I made a rug. Well, i didn’t actually make it but a talented group of women in Nepal did a masterful job of translating a design inspired by one of my paintings into this 100% felted wool beauty for floors. So grateful to Melina of for shepherding me through this experience and having the initial vision to bring it to life.
Hopefully there will be more in the future and hopefully my hands will play more of a direct role because the process is fascinating and reminds of me of painting in various ways.
To see this decorative beauty in real life or if you have to one for your space (customization is an option!) or if you simply want more info, message me and we will take it from there.

I won’t be there in the flesh but definitely in spirit as the artwork on view is imbued with my bits of soul and heart.

I haven’t felt like posting very much let alone engaging with social media and I’m better for it. My emotional sensitivity is high and February has me feeling like I just want to hibernate until Spring. But at the same time my head is brimming with ideas that have risen to the surface while working on some new things. It’s proof that self-imposed timeouts in whatever form they take are good for creativity.
6 more weeks of winter. 6 more weeks of “moderate” hibernation (I’m a Libra and not a hermit!) because i have work in two shows that open within a week of each other starting next week. Links to those in my bio.

Thanks for allowing me to share my artists/mother journey in .founders. Big ups to for highlighting the stories of entrepreneurs that juggle full time creative careers and the lifelong responsibility of nurturing small humans into kind and compassionate big humans.
The journey to parenthood was arduous and required deep soul searching but the challenges I faced seemed to be the emotional warm up phase for what was to come. Oooh child, mothering is wild… meaningful, messy but also pure comedy.

Of course, the last day of my “Good Stuff Top 5” of 2024 on the eve of 2025 and I couldn’t close out the year without highlighting my first solo show.

Showcasing a dozen pieces in “Geoglyphs: Notes from the Interior” with was and is the biggest highlight of my year and this is after a 6 month delay. The only thing that could eclipse that opening is my son’s reaction during his “private viewing.”
The show closes in the new year but what a helluva way to open up the new year. And my last positive spin on 2024… Thank you for all the learnings including the hard knocks and the “WTF is happening right now” pop quizzes. I’m about to ace 2025.

A partial image of a commission that was small in size but was a BIG honor to complete. “Urban Tapestry,” a smallish work on paper for the Los Angeles showroom of Steelcase, makes my “Good Stuff Top 5” of 2024.
The showroom was stunning. I geeked out over their textile offerings and learning about their sustainability practices but what inspired the work were the 360 degree views of downtown LA from the 32nd floor showroom.

Day Three of “Top 5 Good Stuff” of 2024 and I’m going with my jewelry design/metalsmith residency at Long Beach City College this past spring.
I was asked to participate in a new initiative (.beeler), inviting designers and artists from various disciplines to work and explore the world of metals along with students enrolled in the professional jewelry design program.
It fulfilled a desire and curiosity to work three dimensionally while learning about a new material that I found pretty darn magical. It pried open a new way to think about my work and the application as well as implications of using metal within my practice. I’ve barely scratched the surface and am inspired to further my exploration.
Each of the pieces shown (earrings, bolo tie, candlestick holders) were directly pulled from various drawings of mine. Not bad for a newbie!

Day Two of my “Good Stuff Top 5” of 2024 and I couldn’t forget the time one of my works on paper- “Don’t Mess with Ahnemuhnee,” was turned into a print for sporty head gear and neckwear for the outdoor enthusiast by .
It was the perfect collab— my paintings have always been the inspiration in the designs for my textiles and those that know me are well aware how much I love the outdoors and what an inspiration it is in my work. It was a full circle moment thanks to the lovely team at Skida.
This photo is hilarious to me because I received all this winter gear in the midst of a summer heat wave. I had to tuck my expanding Afro up under the running hat and a neck gator despite being topless under my overalls because studios without central air on the 7th floor of an industrial building get HOT! But I was jazzed at the opportunity to wear my work.
