We designed a special shirt as a fundraiser for a couple of important AAPI non-profit service organizations. All proceeds from this sale will benefit Chinatown Community for Equitable Development (CCED) and Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (A3PCON). Thank you for your support!
"Chinatown" has long been a symbolic center of the Chinese community outside of China and Taiwan. While there are several Chinese names for Chinatown, 唐人街 (Tángrénjiē / "Chinese Street") has been the most traditionally used. Today, many Chinatowns are threatened by gentrification. This t-shirt was created to raise awareness of the many (Chinese and other) immigrant residents and businesses that depend on this neighborhood to survive—creating a vibrant and culturally diverse community. Furthermore, AAPI communities are affected by increased racism directed toward them as a result of COVID-19 and anti-China rhetoric.
