In 1994 Vincent Jacquard designed the West Hollywood home of the celebrated American artist friend of Salvador Dali, Steven Arnold. Using the saffron cloth of the Tibetan Monks for Slipcovers over everything, he trimmed the all with black cords locked by toggle buttons, and applied wide tape to create panels. The curtains are black and white vertical stripes, and the ceilings are painted Tiffany Blue. The floors are carpeted wall to wall with Stark imitation leopard print. Here near the entry to set the tone, he created an alter covering a box to display an assemblage of the artist sculptures with a “Baroque Reliquary” floating above.

There are so few of us that can venture in such educated style and savior faire. Know-how takes vision, education and exposure. I call them “The Rare Breeds”. It is not just a question of blood, but of a relentless training, and of a tight relationship between the designer and its patrons. At the end what counts, is how much you have loved.

The Sitting Room at the Country Club Manor in Hancock Park was designed by Vincent Jacquard around the Aubusson rug. Red is the color used on everything (screens, curtains, chairs, banquettes, cushions, pillows) throughout the flat. Black and white photographs of San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York by William Gray Harris are the central theme representing the designer favorite cities. In the mix African art and side tables from Senegal and Gabon. On the coffee table an assortment of Hermes trays, Buccellati dishes, DuPont lighters, unusual boxes filled with goodies all for the delight of your guests. Always keep a tissue box and waste basket at hand, along with a Rose scented candle by Eric Buterbaugh. We used the upholstered screens to extend the color field, absorb the ambient sound and to hung art from Marie Cosindas and Steven Arnold.
