Stupid question but I’m genuinely worried 😅 Wind gusts up to 50 mph here in SE Iowa. I’m only 125 lbs and I have to hold onto stuff when I’m outside — will my birds blow away?! They’re also really quiet this morning and it’s pretty dark. Should I just leave them locked in the coop? It’s a decent size.
EDIT: Thanks for the funny comments y’all 😂 I let them out and they ate then hid under the bushes. They’ll be fine. Last two photos for tax 🙂

New layer started dropping these weird colored eggs. The shell is smooth and the color isn’t just on the outside — you can’t feel or scratch it off. Insides are normal, it’s just a strange color.

Spotted this at Walmart… thinking about mixing it in with their pellets. Anyone tried it before? 🫶🏻

We’re prepping the chicken coop for some brutal cold and snow here in the Midwest. I used that plastic painter’s wrap to block the wind chill but left about a foot open at the top so it can still breathe. Trying to keep the girls from getting frostbite. Does this look like it’ll work or does anyone have better ideas with the plastic?

Can chickens have dairy? More specifically, is cheese okay?

I know how to Google, but I'm getting completely mixed answers. Some people seem to feed cheese to their chickens all the time, while other places say dairy can be hard on their digestive system.

For context, this would just be a treat. They already have constant access to their regular pellet feed.

Also, yes... I'm the same girl whose chickens somehow managed to eat an entire giant bowl of lavender last week. 😂 So now I'm double-checking everything before I hand it over to them.

This is today's chicken snack plan, assuming y'all don't tell me I've accidentally made a bowl of poison. 👍🐔

I know this is a chicken group, but I'm hoping some of you bird people might have some insight.

Does my Pekin look off to you?

He's about 18 months old and he definitely didn't used to stand like this. Lately I've noticed he's looking crooked, while all my other ducks stand nice and straight.

I'm starting to wonder if it could be a tumor, an injury, or something else going on. Has anyone seen a duck develop this kind of posture before?

Just looking for ideas or experiences from anyone who's dealt with something similar.

Out of the 11 chicks I've hatched, this one is definitely my favorite. ❤️

Of course, that probably means it'll end up being a roo. 😂

It's only 5 weeks old, so I know it's still way too early to tell for sure, but I'm really hoping this one turns out to be a hen. 🤞😬

Anyone else always seem to get attached to the ones that keep you guessing?
