Paulina Friedel aka PUNIAF. P.

is a natural born designer passionately obsessed with colors, textures, light, photography, construction, interior design, DIY, woodwork and power tools ;)
From a creator and owner of popular music websites back in her native Poland, to owning a successful boutique web design company in Los Angeles, she has brought strong visuals and joyful colors to many projects in various fields. Eventually the

need to create more tangible things led her to pursue home decor, wood work, finally full design and construction management.

Hi and thanks for coming to my page! After years of being involved in numerous remodeling projects for friends and family, eventually purchasing a fixer-upper in Los Angeles, becoming a mom, and hands-on overseeing construction of brand new buildings A-Z,
it felt like I had enough real life experience to pass it on. I decided to officially leave my 20 year long career in graphic design and finally share my home makeover and MacGyver level problem solving skills with more people. And that's how you're here! Message me any time (here or at http://www.puniafdesign.com ) and let's figure out how we can fix up your space. I give FREE consultations with no strings attached. I've also created a line of funky wall LED signs with varying messages, hand made with love by yours truly, so check it out at http://www.REBELlamps.com ;)

Cheers! Life's motto: DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND THE REST WILL FOLLOW

Spent Saturday at the fair to bask in beauty and inspiration from other humans: makers, innovators, brands and design mentors. I forced my husband on this date but we both enjoyed it because what's not to like - the vibe was great and beauty was everywhere! And I have new products to show my clients!! ðŸĨ°ðŸĪ“

Rain during construction TIPS below. Last week before the so-called "atmospheric river" it was all hands on deck days, framing as much of the roof layer as possible to better secure plastic cover etc. (you can't tell from the photos but there were many guys working upstairs and on the roof).
While we can't always protect the site from the weather (plastic will NOT actually do a great job when covering big areas with multiple sheets no matter how nicely you try to overlap it.. ðŸĪ·ðŸžâ€â™€ïļ water is water), as long as we optimize, control the damage and clean up (and dry) immediately after, it's all going to be absolutely fine.

If you're in this situation:
- do your very best to protect what's most fragile, and in some cases re-direct water to "sacrifice" areas that will be ok to dry and clean
- unplug and put away equipment, halt any unsafe work - come on - NOTHING is worth risking your workers' health (slips, falls, electrical hazards etc)
- remove water, clean, dry as soon as possible, even during a break in the rain if possible.
- the worst thing you can do is allow the water to sit in one area for days to come and not address it! Time and care are of the essence here.
- depending on the stage of the project, don't rush closing up the walls etc. before they are thoroughly dry (important!)

Next step after the rain stops - bringing in the big guns... I mean big fans!! 😜

Monday at the 2 story home project: last week we passed the first story and started adding the second floor. This is the time to see things take shape and make small changes - if I see that something may not work as well as we imagined when drawing the plans, or if the home owner changes their mind about some details, we can still make those edits. I'm talking about minor adjustments, for example: removing the little existing windows and adding a new wider window instead, or removing the sink in the laundry room because they simply won't use it. I also edited the primary bathroom's window size, edited the door opening slightly, specified the arches, and decided to expand the island by 12" etc. While not "life or death", these are little practical things that when caught early and optimized, will benefit the clients later 😉.

Friday afternoon check up - framing phase. Possibly the most important part of our service is the project management - we know every inch of the plan (duh, I designed it! ðŸĪŠ), we speak "construction" rather fluently, and are here to oversee the process, double check on details (especially crucial in later phases) and make sure everyone is and stays on the same page throughout the project.
