After a lot of thought, I’ve made the difficult decision to close the storefront for The Split Leaf Co. at the end of June.
What started as a fascination with keeping a single plant alive grew into something I never could have imagined.
The Split Leaf Co. began while I was a single parent, going to college, and transitioning out of the Army. At the time, I couldn’t keep a plant alive to save my life. Somewhere along the way, I became fascinated by them and determined to learn. That curiosity turned into a small business, then a storefront, and eventually a community.
Over the years, I’ve personally selected and cared about every plant that came through this shop. I’ve celebrated new leaves with you, worried about struggling plants with you, repotted countless rootbound houseplants, and had some truly wonderful conversations with fellow plant lovers. Watching people grow their confidence and collection with plants has been one of the most rewarding experiences.
The workshops have been equally special. From moss art and terrariums to bonsai and beginner plant classes, it has been an honor to teach alongside so many amazing venues, organizations, schools, businesses, and community groups throughout Cincinnati.
This decision wasn’t easy. After a challenging year with my health, I’ve realized it’s time to take a step back and focus on what comes next. While the storefront chapter is coming to an end, this is not goodbye. I will continue teaching workshops throughout the Cincinnati area and hope to keep sharing my love of plants with all of you.
To every customer, workshop attendee, vendor, friend, and supporter who encouraged this dream along the way—thank you. Thank you for shopping small, trusting me with your plants, attending workshops, sharing your successes, and helping make The Split Leaf Co. what it became.
I am incredibly grateful for every bit of support over the last several years.
The storefront will remain open through June 20th, with closeout sales throughout the month. 🪴
Thank you all for being apart of this with me. 🫶🌱
