My latest lamp takes inspiration from the ocean, featuring a sea turtle, octopus, dolphins, and fish across its four sides.

This lamp will be available in the silent auction at the Florida Panhandle Marine Institute groundbreaking event today! The event begins at 1 PM! I’m honored to contribute a piece of my work to support an organization dedicated to marine animal rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation.

Stop by, check out the lamp, and consider placing a bid!

This piece brings together several things I love: woodworking, nature, photography, and finding creative ways to bring nature into our everyday spaces.

I took wildlife photographs I’ve captured over the years and turned them into simple silhouettes cut out of white oak. Each of the four sides features different birds, backed with shoji paper and illuminated from within.
The main structure is walnut, giving the lamp a warm, natural feel even when the light is off.

This is exactly the kind of project I love about woodworking, something as simple as a photograph can become something completely different — a one of a kind piece of functional art.

This commissioned walnut hallway table was built around a collection of vintage tiles that had been saved for years.
Rather than letting them remain tucked away, we created a piece that would give them a new life. The rich walnut frame highlights the character of the tiles while giving them a place to be appreciated for years to come.
Sometimes the most meaningful pieces aren't built from new materials, but from giving cherished ones a second life.

Hardwood scraps don’t stay scraps for long around here.

Each piece is cut, shaped, and carefully chosen for its natural color and grain — no paint, no stain, just real wood doing what it does best.

This black skimmer marks 17 unique species I've made out of wood. Follow along to see who's next or better yet, let me know what you think I should make next

These little ones are made from multiple hardwood species, each chosen for its natural color and grain.
No paint — just wood doing what it does best. 🐦

Vitalemakes is a small woodworking studio creating nature-inspired wood art and custom furniture.
I’m best known for my handcrafted wooden birds, made from carefully selected hardwood scraps. Each color you see comes from a different species of wood — no paint, no stain — just natural grain and tone working together.
Alongside my birds, I design and build custom hardwood furniture, from statement pieces to functional everyday items. Every project is built with a focus on craftsmanship, character, and the natural beauty of wood.
Custom orders are always welcome.
