*I found the recipe for the Balm of Gilead in my apothecary book and had to look more deepily into it.

FYI...did you know that the same tree that produced this amazing figure and coloration is the same tree that produces a healing salve. Buds from the Cottonwood tree are collected and placed in a jar with extra virgin olive oil and soaked for a year and then becomes what is referred to as the" Balm of Gilead".

The ancient Balm of Gilead was a precious, aromatic resin derived from shrubs in the Middle East, primarily identified as Pistacia lentiscus or Commiphora gileadensis. It was renowned in antiquity for its healing, medicinal, and soothing properties. Modern versions often use resinous buds from the Populus balsamifera (cottonwood) tree infused in oil.

Jesus is called the "Balm of Gilead" because, in Christian theology, He is the ultimate spiritual healer who cures sin, brokenness, and emotional pain, acting as a divine remedy much like the ancient medicinal ointment produced in the region of Gilead. He is often referred to as the "Great Physician," providing healing to "sin-sick" souls. 😊
