WHAT IS THE SOUL OF YOUR PROJECT? // ¿Cuál es el alma de tu proyecto?⁣⁣

⁣⁣
MOOD BOARDS are the soul of a project! They are a tool that we can use to give an order to our ideas and describe graphically what sometimes we don’t know how to put into words. They illustrate the Look (appearance) & Feel (how it will be enjoyed) of the project. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
It is a powerful tool that allows us to TELL A STORY, define a color/material palette, and describe the personality of the project. ⁣⁣⁣

This is the first (and one of the most important) step for every new creative venture. It doesn’t matter if is a small room or an entire house, I always do this during the conceptual phase. I recommend using them even if you are not a designer. ⁣⁣⁣

During the design process, I always go back and look at the board to remain connected to the concept. It is the best way to keep the soul of the project and it’s physical construction coherent from day one.⁣⁣

How long do you think a project can be? / ¿Cuánto crees que puede tardar un proyecto? ⁣

This baby is almost done and I cannot come and see it’s final stages 😢 (thanks to Covid) however a lot of people have asked me: How long this project will be? ⁣
⁣
Honestly, that’s a tough question to answer, since there are to many variables to take into consideration. These TV “turn over shows” have been misleading specially in the time that everything takes. ⁣They can do a house in a week, really? That’s so not true!
⁣
As round and “realistic” numbers I’ll take the risk to say that: ⁣
⁣
1. Architecture: if the project starts from scratch to its completion, it can take around 8-12 months - there is a lot of permits and codes to be studied in this phase. ⁣
⁣
2. Interior Design: If is a new project, ideally we should start along with architecture planning, unfortunately this almost never happens. For new construction, we take around 3-6 months in planning the interior design.⁣
⁣
3. Construction phase: this is the longes and sometimes variable phase of the project. Depends on the location, weather, contractor team, city permits, among other factors. During construction there are a lot of back and forward with the architects and designers to complete the job as planned. If is a new construction it can take from 12 - 24 months. If is a renovation/remodeling takes from 2 - 8 months. ⁣

4. Decor and Styling: Here is when choose the furniture and accessories to make the project look incredible. Depending on the type of furniture and its stock, it can take less or more time to have the project ready. I would say that goes between 2-6 months. ⁣

This is a long and creative process that has a lot to take into consideration, so next time you see a “turn over” program you’ll be aware of the REAL timeframes and if you want to start a project on your own now you can have REAL expectations 🤓. ⁣

I have parts of the process of designing that I enjoy more than others, definitely going to the sites, and envision the project is one of my favorites. We went to verify the scale of the proposal and check things that we might have overlooked when designing. ⁣

I just think that it changes our lives!!! ⁣Let me tell you why...⁣

Did you know that most of us spend around 90% of our time indoors (nowadays it could be closer to 99%)? So the experience we have on the interior space affects our health, our mood, our feelings, and our wellbeing. ⁣
⁣
Now more than ever, a GOOD INTERIOR DESIGN is a NECESSITY, and we cannot keep it for granted! ⁣

Así que la experiencia que tenemos dentro del espacio interior puede afectar nuestra salud, nuestro humor, nuestros sentimientos y nuestro bienestar! ⁣

¿Qué le dirías a tu YO de hace 10 años? / What would you say to your 10 years younger self?

Esta soy yo, recién llegada de Madrid de haber terminado mi primera maestría en diseño interior, con mucha ilusión, sueños y ganas de comerme al mundo!

Yo le diría:

- Nunca dejes de soñar, esos sueños se conquistan y se transforman en algo más grande, en nuevos sueños!
- Se siempre agradecida, no se llega lejos sólo.
- Sonríe siempre, hasta los problemas más complicados tienen solución, siempre que tengas buena actitud.
- Valora el trabajo en equipo, eres tan grande como tu equipo!
- Crea o crece tu red de contactos, es una de las claves del éxito.
- Disfruta a tu familia, puede que vivas lejos y extrañes mucho sus abrazos! ❤️
- Viaja muchísimo, nunca sabes cuando haya una pandemia! 🤦🏽‍♀️
- Ama lo qué haces y diviértete creando, tienes mucha suerte de haber encontrado tu pasión!
- No le tengas miedo a lo desconocido, tomando riesgos conseguirás mucho más de lo planeaste!
