I am saddened to share with you that I have decided to shut the doors to Covet Consign & Frank Modern.
From the early days at my first shop at 33rd & E. Lake St., circa 2010, where I first tried out my consignment shop idea, then to S.Mpls and eventually onto NE Mpls. What a ride it’s been!
A year later I desperately needed to move. I heard about a guy who had bought and renovated two buildings at the corner of 38th & Chicago in Mpls, and he was looking for tenants. I started in a modest space in the building. Later on, the space next door became available and it was the most incredibly gorgeous space, and I knew it was meant for me and my store. It was at that point that I started my second concept, Frank Modern. Eventually the back area of my space got renovated and it was even more stunning, and I knew I had to have that as well. That was my home for many years, and I am still incredibly grateful I got to work in a space that beautiful. That is until that fateful day George Floyd was murdered across the street from my shop. That day everything changed, and by everything, I mean everything. The entire world shifted, and that shift included my life and my career. It became obvious that space was no longer meant for me, so slowly and over time, I got all of my things out of the space and it was unclear what the next move was for me.
I moved into a beautiful space in a warehouse in NE Mpls, a space I occupied for 2 years, that is until now. The business never found its footing again and it became clear that it was time to shut the doors on that chapter of my life.
I have felt so incredibly lucky to have made so many incredible friendships in the years I had my business. The gratitude I have for all the customers, employees, consignors, pickers, artists, stylists, interior designers, furniture makers, supportive friends, and all-around supporters of my business is simply immeasurable. All of you have enabled me to live out a business dream I had in my mind for many years, and all of you made it more successful than I could have imagined.
Thank you for sharing this chapter with me, I couldn’t have done it without you.
With much love and gratitude,
Christy
