A room can be finished without feeling complete.

In the before photos, this powder room technically had everything it needed. The iridescent gold walls were painted. The fixtures were installed. The mirror was hung.

But it hadn’t yet become theirs.

The final layer was personal.

We filled the walls with a collection of vintage mirrors, artwork and objects that reflect the homeowners’ travels, interests, humor and history. Suddenly, a tiny powder room became an experience. There’s something to discover everywhere you look.

But here’s the important part: more isn’t always the answer. Personality is.

For someone else, that final layer might be one incredible piece of art. A textile collected on a trip. A patterned valance. A photograph that means something. Or simply the restraint to leave a wall beautifully quiet.

Your home doesn’t need to look more “designed.”

It needs to tell more of your story.

So once the paint is dry and the furniture is in place, don’t assume you’re done.

Behind this pantry wall, everyday life is still there - small appliances, snacks, paperwork, pantry staples, mixing bowls - but it’s organized around how this family actually lives instead of competing for space on the countertops.

The result isn’t perfection.

It’s peace.

Because good design doesn’t ask you to own less.

It gives everything a place to belong.

The most important view in your kitchen might not be the one guests see.

Sometimes the biggest transformation happens without changing the room itself.

This sunroom always had beautiful natural light, original wood trim, and views of the outdoors.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But it couldn’t fulfill its potential.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before the renovation, the home’s layout forced the homeowners to use this space as overflow because there simply wasn’t another place for the furniture they needed every day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By reimagining the adjacent spaces, we improved the home’s overall flow and freed the sunroom to finally become what the homeowners had always envisioned: a welcoming place to greet guests, enjoy a quiet cup of tea, or simply pause in the morning light.

One of the things we love most about design is that solving one problem often unlocks opportunities somewhere else.
Most people think of a renovation as transforming individual rooms.

One of the most interesting parts of working with repeat clients is noticing what continues to resonate over time.

The best kitchens aren’t organized by category. They’re organized by routine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we designed this kitchen back in 2019, we weren’t simply trying to hide small appliances, though that was a priority in this compact kitchen.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We were thinking about how this family moved through their mornings.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead of scattering everyday tasks throughout the kitchen, we created two dedicated morning zones within easy reach of their breakfast nook.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One cabinet became a coffee and tea station, complete with integrated power, roll-out shelves, and a quartz countertop inside so everything could be used right where it lived. Open the door, brew your coffee, close the door, and move on with your day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The second became the family’s breakfast station, housing the toaster, cereal, bread, and everyday staples. Again, with power built in and a durable countertop, breakfast prep could happen right inside the cabinet without taking over the kitchen.

When the morning rush is over, the doors close.
The countertops are clear.
The visual clutter disappears.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That might seem like a small thing, but those small moments shape how a home feels to live in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the questions we ask every client isn’t, “How much storage do you need?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead, we ask: “Tell us about a typical morning in your home.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Where does everyone naturally gather?
What gets used every single day?
What’s always left out on the counter?
Where does the routine start to feel frustrating?

Those answers shape the design far more than trends ever will. Because thoughtful design isn’t about fitting your life into someone else’s idea of the perfect kitchen.

None of these things are difficult on their own.

It’s the constant searching, remembering, and juggling that quietly adds to our mental load.

That’s why we love designing spaces like this.

For this family of six, we created a dedicated drop zone in the kitchen, just off the entry. A place for charging devices, organizing paperwork, storing cookbooks, and keeping everyday essentials within easy reach.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because when everything has a home, you spend less time looking for what you need and more time living your life.
It’s a small design decision that creates a surprising sense of ease.

And that’s one of the things we love most about thoughtful design. Sometimes the biggest impact isn’t a dramatic transformation.

A few things you might not know about me...

I'm a 5/1 Sacral Generator who can happily spend hours organizing just about anything.

I read 200+ books a year, am almost always wearing quirky socks, and have never met a crystal shop I could walk past without stopping.

I was raised on equal parts Beatles albums and NPR, and twice a year I disappear to a cabin in the woods by myself for a few days to recharge, read, think, and reconnect.

I also have very little patience for delayed timelines. 😆

But my favorite thing?

Helping people create homes that feel like them.

Because at the end of the day, great design isn't really about the furniture, paint colors, or finishes.

It's about creating a space that supports the life you're living and feels good to come home to.
