This is a picture that we've used for a few years and I wanted to share it again today. I'm pouring candles, but I'm also wearing a sweatshirt with MLK on it that my dad bought at the King Center in Atlanta. It says "The Beloved Community" which is King's vision (and others') for an achievable society where conflict still exists, but it is resolved peacefully, and without hostility. It is one where we recognize the inherent worth and value of others, and all people can share in the wealth of the earth. In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger and homelessness will not be tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood.

It may feel like this country is racing away from the Beloved Community toward the abyss of hatred and inequity, but I know that this is not inevitable. As the words of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. remind us on his Day - “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

One of my favorite projects this year has been this custom candle collection for the at We collaborated with the Williams Shop team to come up with a fragrance palette that represented the school and the Williamstown MA community. Then we designed four different labels that incorporate the school colors and elements of life at Williams like the inscription on Hopkins Gate, the Berkshire mountains and, of course, Ephelia the Purple Cow. I can't wait to get back up there to see them! 🤞🤞🤞 All four are available now exclusively at the Williams Shop!
