About From Here to Home Essentials
I've always been a bit of a tree-hugger. I grew up with a deep appreciation for nature, spending large parts of my childhood in the lakes of Michigan, the shores of Florida's Gulf coast, and outside with my pets. In 2019, I applied for a citizen-science sailing mission with eXXpedition, on a whim. I never expected to be chosen, but later that year, I stood on a s

ailboat with new sailing sisters, a sunburn, and the task of collecting ocean water samples to better understand microplastics and ocean pollution. Multiple reusable bags full of trash, including a netting from a shipping container, on a beach in Antigua

Our clean up of a protected beach- which we were told would be clean because of its protected status- netted us six MASSIVE bags of trash, including some plastics webbing that came off a shipping container. And the samples we took? Full of microplastics that wind up in the deepest depths of the ocean, in the bellies of marine life, and eventually, in our water and soil. Plastic made it possible, I suppose, but now they're coating out planet, filling our oceans and waterways, and microplastic is even in the air we breathe. We simply can't maintain this relationship with plastic. I became obsessed with the idea of reducing my own personal plastic waste, not only to reduce my footprint, but to demonstrate that there is a need and a want for plastic-free products. From Here to Home Essentials was born. In my own small way, From Here to Home Essentials is my contribution to a greener, healthier, less-plasticky-planet.

When refilling is as easy as choosing "automatically refill," you'll never go back to conventional, store bought products!

If you don't know where to start, my picks are: hand soap, dishwasher tabs, and dog poo bags. Never want to run out of those, lol

Of course, your family's needs may be different- I'd be more than happy to talk and find out what would suit you!

Let's talk, or head to www.fromheretohomeessentials.com and make your choice.

All isn't as it seems with conventional products!

When you buy a conventional product from the store, you're buying from a handful of mega conglomerates who drive up prices, drive down wages, lobby against regulations, plus buying a bunch of packaging that is unlikely to be recycled, branding, and dyes.

When you support a refillery like From Here to Home Essentials (or your local refillery, I heart my colleagues), you support:

Effective products with transparent ingredient lists, employees making fair wages, small businesses, and no garbage!

Refilling is a small change that can make a huge difference in building the world we WANT to live in!

From Here to Home Essentials refills AND delivers! Plus we've got a bunch of other great plastic-free swaps you'll love!

Watching social media and feel like I'm losing my mind because we're constantly being force-fed cute trends that turn into things you better RUN DONT WALK! to get at exceedingly rapid pace, while we're outsourcing our daily tasks to robots so we can "save time" to organize all the things we bought into storage racks we bought for those things, and even our basic essentials come in packaging that's built to last forever but also be thrown away.

What happened to developing our own sense of taste and style, by the way?! All our inspo seems to come from influencers with affiliate links, rather than that one really cool unique thing you found in your grandma's closet.

Ask AI to decorate your house! Ask Instagram what you MUST HAVE to be in style this microseason! Buy a bunch of stuff that'll wind up in a landfill.

I feel a little "Grandpa Simpson yells at cloud," but the older I get, the more I realize taste and style and hobbies and skills are things we can develop over time, for ourselves and our own joy.

The joy of human-ness is exploring and learning what you like and what you don't like! It's messy, it's complicated, it's FUN.

Why are we trying to give that away (FOR MONEY?!)

A real peek behind the curtain:

I got frustrated in my office so I moved to the coffee table. I got sidetracked and havent had anything but coffee since breakfast. I'm applying for grants which is nerve wracking (and so many charge a fee. Ahhhh).

I'm not really sure what this has to do with refilling, more like: I don't have it all figured out. Today or any day. My motivation and discipline peak and crest and fall. I get tired and frustrated and sad and joyful and bored.

And sometimes my day is just trying to figure out which end is up. And I do love Bill Withers.

Anyway, I am wishing you a happy Wednesday ❤️

And if you did wanna talk about refills, my DMs are open.

It's pretty easy to think about the world we DON'T want, I wanted to intentionally thing about the world I DO want.

I am absolutely positive I've left things out, so tell me, what exists in the world you want to build together?
