About From Here to Home Essentials
I've always been a bit of a tree-hugger. I grew up with a deep appreciation for nature, spending large parts of my childhood in the lakes of Michigan, the shores of Florida's Gulf coast, and outside with my pets. In 2019, I applied for a citizen-science sailing mission with eXXpedition, on a whim. I never expected to be chosen, but later that year, I stood on a s

ailboat with new sailing sisters, a sunburn, and the task of collecting ocean water samples to better understand microplastics and ocean pollution. Multiple reusable bags full of trash, including a netting from a shipping container, on a beach in Antigua

Our clean up of a protected beach- which we were told would be clean because of its protected status- netted us six MASSIVE bags of trash, including some plastics webbing that came off a shipping container. And the samples we took? Full of microplastics that wind up in the deepest depths of the ocean, in the bellies of marine life, and eventually, in our water and soil. Plastic made it possible, I suppose, but now they're coating out planet, filling our oceans and waterways, and microplastic is even in the air we breathe. We simply can't maintain this relationship with plastic. I became obsessed with the idea of reducing my own personal plastic waste, not only to reduce my footprint, but to demonstrate that there is a need and a want for plastic-free products. From Here to Home Essentials was born. In my own small way, From Here to Home Essentials is my contribution to a greener, healthier, less-plasticky-planet.

Happy Pride Month! This month (and all year!), I honor, see, and celebrate all of the amazing LGBTQ+ folks in this community and beyond.

You have an ally in me and I'll fight for you 🌈🏳️‍🌈

Sometimes I bask, sometimes I scream.

Balance.

I'm DOING MY BEST over here, but reading about the EPA gutting, public lands at risk, and data centers going in despite objections...

We could do so much better.

I'm nothing if not stubborn as hell though (seriously, ask my mom), so I'll keep fighting for all of us and the planet the best ways I can. 💚💙

It's mid-year or thereabouts, so I'd love to know:

How would you rate your low-waste efforts so far this year?

Be honest, there's no pressure or judgement here!

And for a bonus point, what would make you rate yourself higher?

(If I can help in some way, let's talk!)

It's easy to feel powerless and overwhelmed when it comes to making meaningful choices.

Yes, you can tap into local candidates, grassroots activism, mutual aid groups, volunteer, and more.

You can also choose with your dollar and shop at small and locally owned businesses, grocers, co-ops, makers, refilleries, farmer's markets, bulk stores, independent stores, secondhand shops, etc.

Not only does more of your dollar stay in the community (via taxes + wages), you're choosing the world you want to live in- one with a thriving Main Street.

Do the best you can with what you have, and when you can, choose to support small, local, and independent businesses!

Heavy metal festival bound, so just thinking about my belief that experiences and memories >>>> things.

What if the hauls just arent that cool?

What if the mass produced stuff in that cart is the least interesting thing about you?

You're more than your ~stuff~

Hello friends! I'm Lindsey, the owner of From Here to Home Essentials. Yep, it's just me (and my office assistant dog, unfortunately he isn't much help in the day-to-day stuff).

I actually studied to be a historian- which means I am a crack researcher, solid writer, and good synthesizer of info- unfortunately, I graduated during ~tumultuous times.~

BUT! I was chosen to sail with in 2019 and that trip opened my eyes to the scope and scale of the plastic pollution crisis.

That trip inspired me to start From Here to Home Essentials, a delivery refillery and zero waste shop with all the basics you need to ditch plastic!

I make it easy for eco-conscious folks like you to refill daily essentials and make plastic-free swaps AND I deliver to your door, keeping everything in a closed loop, no waste system.

If you've found me, it's because you also care about the planet and reducing plastic, and I'm so glad you're here! If you want to learn more, let's talk in the DMs!

Hey! Lindsey here!

I started From Here to Home Essentials in 2023 to help folks reduce plastic waste through refilling and making simple swaps.

I'm also a Sag who loves to travel (duh), reader, writer, pittie mom, death metal fan, and gym rat, if you're into any of that!

I'd love to help you replace your plastic trash with something better (and less wasteful)!

If this sounds up your alley, lets talk, my messages are open!
