The chestnut cabinet is in the last stages of completion. Final sanding finished and the stain has been applied. Now three days of drying before the poly is added, otherwise it would wipe it right off. Custom woodworking takes patience! The hardware will be added once the coats of finish are done.

Next up in the kitchen remodel is a new top for the island. We extended it 10” to give us more work space. We used a combination of maple and walnut wood with six coats of our special poly mix which will cure completely within 30 days, completely safe for kitchen use.

Next up will be new countertops- hopefully by fall.

NEW PROJECT on the bench!
What an honor to be trusted with 100+ year old Chestnut wood from a family farm in Ohio.

The client’s grandfather, cut and milled the trees and put the wood in the barn and never did anything with it. Look carefully at the photos and you can see the evidence of the insects that devastated the Chestnut trees in the U.S.

This repeat client is super excited to see this treasure wood (yes super dry and like butter to cut) turned into a family piece. He brought the wood to Tennessee for Roger and waited patiently for him to heal last fall.
