House Beautiful // September/October 2026

“I always imagined having a French farmhouse- inspired kitchen; this is clearly a departure from that, but sometimes you just have to take a chance and see where it takes you.” - Ashley Hotham Cox House Beautiful

You can’t show up to Cersaie in drugstore sunglasses. Ryan of Second Nature Vintage wasn’t about to let that happen.

He brought his collection of couture vintage frames to the studio, and we played dress-up for Italy. Ryan helps us out in the shop and helps folks all over Nashville find one-of-a-kind clothes and accessories with real stories behind them.

Bologna and Rimini, here we come. 🧡

A public park bathroom in Nashville now has one of the best tile walls in the city in it, and somebody had to fight to make that true.

Elizabeth Williams at New Hat designed it and we spent months making it. The blog has the whole story — what she originally brought us, why it couldn’t be built that way, and what the two of us came up with instead.

Everyone wants handmade tile for their backsplash.

But in a project like Memoir Residence, every decision has to work within a bigger picture.

The advantage of doing this for 20 years?

We know the right people.

For this boutique multifamily in Nashville, we partnered with our friends in Spain to produce the designer’s vision—a rustic, satin-glazed tile in a warm rust tone that brings depth, texture, and just enough edge.

Different path. Same intention.

Because the best projects aren’t about doing what’s expected—

they’re about making the right call.

Twenty years of saying next year.

Next year finally showed up. I’m going to Cersaie in Bologna and Tecna in Rimini — the two shows I’ve been talking myself out of for my entire career.

Not to come home with a bigger catalog. To come home with better tools, better glaze chemistry, and better ways to make the thing you can’t find anywhere else.

That’s the only kind of growing I’m interested in.

Wrote the whole thought out on the blog — what I’m looking for, and what I’m not willing to trade for it. Link in bio.

If you’ve walked either show: what should I not miss? 👇
