✨ Filipino Native Chicken Soup (Sinabawang Native na Manok) ✨
Nothing beats a homemade dish that warms the body and soul! ❤️ Whenever it rains or the weather gets cold, this is our family’s go-to comfort food—simple ingredients but packed with deep, rich flavors! This recipe was passed down from my grandmother, and every sip of the broth feels like a warm hug from home. 🥰
🌿 The secret? Use native chicken! It’s tastier, more tender, and perfect for this traditional Filipino soup. Add malunggay or green papaya for extra nutrients!
🛒 Ingredients:
🐔 1 whole native chicken, cut into serving sizes
🧅 1 large onion, sliced
🧄 4 cloves garlic, crushed
🫑 1 red chili (optional, for a little heat)
🥕 1 cup sliced green papaya or chayote
🌿 1 cup malunggay leaves or chili leaves
🫙 1 tbsp salt
🧂 1/2 tsp whole black pepper
💧 6-8 cups water
🛢️ 2 tbsp cooking oil
🔪 How to Cook:
1️⃣ Sauté garlic and onion in oil until fragrant.
2️⃣ Add the sliced native chicken and stir until it turns white.
3️⃣ Pour in water, add salt and pepper, and let it simmer for 40-50 minutes or until the chicken is tender.
4️⃣ Add green papaya or chayote and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
5️⃣ Lastly, add malunggay or chili leaves, turn off the heat, and cover the pot for 2 minutes to let the residual heat cook the greens.
6️⃣ Serve hot with rice and enjoy! 🍚🔥
💡 Tips:
✔️ Let it simmer over low heat to bring out the natural flavors of the chicken.
✔️ Bone-in cuts give the broth a richer taste!
✔️ For an added kick, throw in some ginger for extra warmth and depth.
