Why be basic, when you can BEDAZZLE!

I’m officially in my razzle-dazzle era. I was heading out for a garden trip and wanted a plant-inspired look, but all my plantwear is for warm weather. Here in New York, fall has shown up with a grudge to settle. None of it was going to work.

Instead of buying something new, I made something new! This old blazer was languishing in the back of my closet. Ever since bedazzling my first t-shirt this summer, the situation has quickly escalated. Nothing in my is safe! It can all get that razzle-dazzle!

Save this for when you’re ready to upgrade your basic blazer and follow for more plant-inspired bedazzle!

Epipremnum Pinnatum Albo growth progress from Feb 2023 to today! I bought this plant during peak Covid plant prices, so throwing her away when she rapidly declined was NOT an option. One emergency repot in March 2024 turned everything around. She was SEVERELY rootbound. Severely as in, I had to CUT her out of the pot! Her thick juicy roots were being choked. Hanging my head in shame, cause that was on me.

With the room to breathe and grow, she did a complete 180! She was putting out crazy new growth, and this time I knew not to wait. I immediately repotted her again, one year later (the lesson was learned!)

This beauty is proof that patience and consistency pay off! Are you team "never give up?"

Plants on the porch: PART TWO

I completely forgot to include my Epripemnum Pinnatum ‘albo’ in the first video. After you watch this one, go back and take a look at the rest of the plants that made it outside onto the porch this year.

But this beauty right here: I am super proud of her growth! This plant joined the collection in February 2023. I was totally blown away when I stumbled upon it in a local nursery. But as the months went on, the shine wore off and I had buyer’s remorse.

It had a really weird growth pattern and I just was not impressed. But I bought this plant during Covid, and if you know anything about panorama plant prices you know this baby was not cheap. I gave it a fresh repot and a little more time.

I’m so glad we hung, now she is everything I dreamed she could be! Sometimes that new plant is not dramatic or ugly (shhh), it just needs time to acclimate to the new growing environment and care routine.

Plants on the porch! Outdoor houseplant tour!
I did not bring many houseplants out to the porch this year, because I have a loads of fall travel. But the ones that came out SHOWED out with CRAZY new growth! Outdoor plant care during spring and summer really boosts tropical plant growth.
Even if you only bring a few indoor plants outside, it’s so worth it for their glow UP! It is a great way to accelerate indoor jungle growth before winter. Start planning now for next spring.

In order of appearance:
• Ficus elastica ‘Burgundy’
• Ficus elastica ‘Ruby’
• Philodendron brandtianum ‘Brandi’
• Pothos ‘Manjula’ ( Epipremnum aureum if you want to be fancy)

And then the MOTHERLAND. We went to Ghana in August of 2025. A transformational trip!

Nothing is more important to Eddie and I, than FAMILY. Both biological and chosen. It’s the foundation.

About last night!

A garden party loves to see me coming cause I am going to do THEE most—on THEME of course! I had the pleasure of attending The Gardener’s Party at Wave Hill last night.

What an absolutely STUNNING garden, and it overlooks the Hudson River! Water views + plants? YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU! The funds raised support the John Nally Internship, a paid apprenticeship that trains the next generation of plant loving horticulturists.

I got my first taste of bedazzling in July. I razzled up a t-shirt for the Jay-Z concert. It has since escalated quickly! I bedazzled a dress for a sweet 16 and now I’ve moved onto my own wardrobe. I thought this embroidered suit wasn’t quite over the top enough, added some sparkle to the lapel. Why be basic when you can bedazzle? 😅😅😅

This was my FAVORITE planting! So cool and sculptural! That lemon lime plant that is STEALING the show is Tokyo Sun Sedum. Unfortunately, it’s not hardy in my zone (7B) so I won’t be adding it to my yard, but I am on the hunt for something similar. The other sedums are hardy here. Yay!

People love to complain about social media, but I was just influenced to join the worldwide art experiment, ‘What I’m Looking At’ because I saw in this mirror mask created by . I put it on, and joy was IMMEDIATELY sparked! Now I’m sharing it cause I want you to get you some!

My current garden bloom OBSESSION!

I have fallen head over heels with coneflowers! I thought I didn’t like them. Turns out I just didn’t like that very common yellow with the black center variety. I don’t know why it’s so popular when there so many more to choose from! Swipe through and see the beautiful array of colors this pollinator favorite comes in.

Fall is almost here and it’s the best time to garden! I know summer is not over yet, but I think those very sweaty temps are. So I have been in the garden adding new beauties every single day!

The magic of Grand Illumination in Oak Bluffs.

Every third Wednesday in August, this historic Martha’s Vineyard tradition brings thousands of visitors annually.

The colorful gingerbread cottages are already beautiful, but they get an extra dose of razzle dazzle with colorful paper lanterns in every shape and size imaginable. It’s not a competition, but it’s also a friendly competition. Everyone goes full speed!

Some cottages follow a very strict color palette. One of my favorites was a cottage named “La Vie en Rose.” It was pink on pink on pink! Check out the post before this one for a look at that beauty.

Another cottage took it all the way to the walkway, and enlisted the help of neighborhood kids to color every brick in colored chalk. It was so beautiful!

Walking through the illuminated streets, you truly feel the heart of the island. It’s vibrant, timeless, and one of the best things to see during August on the Vineyard.
