A bathroom designed like a ritual. ❄️

ASID NY Metro member Vanessa DeLeon ( Vanessa Deleon Associates) built Immersion for this year's Kips Bay Decorator Show House around the beauty of ice itself: its layers, its movement, its shifting tones. You travel through it in sequence, from a hallway wrapped in dark wood-look wallpaper, through the water closet and shower, to a final moment at the cold plunge.

The marble slabs steal the show, but the details are what make it personal: candles and incense from her hOMe collection, and a smart toilet that plays calming music.

Congratulations, Vanessa! 👏

Member spotlight: Vanessa Katzen Design

For this Park Slope, Brooklyn brownstone, Vanessa Katzen reworked a bright, maximalist entry into something quieter — letting the home's modernist geometric ceiling planes and warm materials carry the design instead. Natural materials, layered textures, and a restrained palette of white, cream, gray, and warm wood run through the home, anchored by a striking work from artist Jake Snowden.

"The goal was to create interiors that reconcile timeless design with contemporary living," Katzen says.

Visit MANITOGA, the House, Studio and Woodland Garden pioneer industrial designer Russel Wright (1904-1976) envisioned with his wife Mary Einstein Wright (1905-1952) for their family. Experience Dragon Rock, the experimental home which Wright built onto the rock ledge of an abandoned quarry, and explore the surrounding landscape he masterfully orchestrated into a series of outdoor rooms of varying character and delight.

Please note that this program includes a moderate hike. Guests should dress appropriately, and must be able to negotiate uneven ground, areas of incline and decline, several sets of steps (most with handrails), and two water crossings.

Transportation is not included in the ticket price; Manitoga’s website provides driving directions. Public transportation is available through the Metro North train to the Peekskill station, where taxis are available.

The best kitchen appliances are often the ones you don't notice until someone opens them. In this space, a Dacor refrigerator disappears into paneling that matches the surrounding cabinetry — no visible hardware, no break in the sightline — until the door swings open onto a fully lit, meticulously organized interior. That kind of disappearing act takes real engineering, and it's exactly the sort of detail design professionals notice even when clients never think to ask about it.

Thank you to chapter sponsor Dacor for sharing this kitchen with us.
