Episode 4 of Starting Over with ADITI® 🪔

These boxes have been rotting in my apartment hallway for two years. The cinder blocks made the studio functional. Unpacking my molds and supplies made it finally feel like mine.

This is the first time I’m really showing the mold-making side of ADITI®. The experiments. The faces. The mess behind every finished candle.

I’m building this space and the next version of ADITI® as I go. Come along for the process. The mistakes. The weird ideas. And hopefully a lot of beautiful things.

We’ve officially moved in.

Xoxo 😘

Introducing Sound Check 🪔
// a special Community Notes for sharing performances happening around us.

I spent a big part of my life learning Carnatic violin. I don’t play anymore, but I think that kind of practice stays with you. I guess it’s part of why I still make things with my hands. (Yes, that’s me in the audio.)

I also know how much incredible work can pass by unnoticed unless someone happens to send you the flyer. I wanted to use this space to share the artists I come across and make it a little easier for more people to show up for them.

It won’t be limited to music. Dance belongs here too. Anything meant to be experienced live is welcome. Dare you to send me your standup.

If you have something coming up, send me the assets and the date. I’ll make the flyer so you don’t have to open PowerPoint 🤣

I’m here for the claps 👏 😉

Come listen. 🤎

Siddharth Ashokkumar on violin, joined by Sriram Raman and Siddharth Ragavan on mridangam.

I’ve lived in Greenpoint for almost 10 years, and somehow this is my first studio.

For the last few years I’ve been making candles in New Jersey, and that studio isn’t going anywhere. It’s been the foundation of everything I’ve built.

But I also had to be honest with myself.

The harder it is to get to your craft, the easier it is to put it off.

This new space isn’t about replacing anything. It’s about making creativity more accessible to me. A place where I can walk in with an idea, spend a few hours making something with my hands, and see where it leads.

Episode one is just that: an empty room with impossibly high ceilings, a tape measure, and a lot of possibility.

If there’s something you’ve been meaning to make, maybe the answer isn’t more discipline. Maybe it’s making your craft easier to reach.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported ADITI over the years. Every candle you’ve brought into your home helped make this possible.

And thank you, Amma. You taught me to love making things long before I ever thought about turning it into a business. I’m excited for everything we’ll make here together.

DM me to come visit!!! 💌

Apparently it’s Singles Awareness Day.

It started as a quiet internet rebellion in the early 2000s. A pushback against how loud and commercial Valentine’s Day had become. The acronym was intentional. SAD. A little sarcasm. A little edge.

It wasn’t anti-love. It was anti-pressure.

A reminder that being single isn’t something to recover from. It isn’t a placeholder. It’s just life, fully yours.

There’s something grounding about coming home, lighting a candle, putting something sweet on a plate 🍮, and not needing an occasion. No performance. No audience. Just your own space, exactly how you like it.

Romanticizing your life isn’t delusion. It’s attention.

Light the candle 🕯️
Eat the jalebi 🍯
Stay a little longer 🤍

Experience the pure, captivating scent of freshly picked Jasmine (malligai) from the backyard garden, lovingly strung into an elegant strand by amma (mother), gracing her hair. A perfect start to a spring day is waking up to the trail of the sweet floral scent from amma’s malai, which blankets the hallways.

Maker notes:
Designing a label for a candle is an art that takes time, collaboration with designers, and a commitment to growth. As you scroll through this photo carousel, you'll witness the journey we took of creating a craft brand, where incremental gains come along the way.
