It was when I was going through one of the most terrifying chapters of my life that I realized the power of beauty. When my eyebrows were disintegrating, my hair was falling, my face was puffy from post-chemo steroids that I realized that my beauty wasn’t just a result of looking pretty, it was something much deeper.

I began to practice beauty through my senses—grounding into my body when the pain told me to escape. I created Rituals of Reverence to celebrate the life I fiercely loved—especially when there were no guarantees of tomorrow.

Beauty became my practice.

When I was going through cancer treatment, I didn’t wait to heal before I felt beautiful. I felt beautiful so that I could heal.

For years, I thought beauty was the destination.

Cancer taught me it was the vehicle.
