From Sweden to the Panama Canal.

Furniture is often designed to live in homes, hotels and beautiful interiors. But sometimes a piece gets to have a rather more adventurous life.

My grandfather, Arne Norell, designed the Sirocco chair in 1964 Norell Furniture. I never imagined that one day I would be sitting in it while sailing through the Panama Canal.

To me, this chair has always embodied a sense of adventure. Its design draws on the tradition of safari and campaign chairs associated with African expeditions in the early 20th century.

I had always dreamed of taking my grandfather’s chair on an expedition of my own. I’m very happy that I finally got to make that happen.

A Mallorcan hideaway shaped by history, design and a slower way of living.

At THE VÖLKERS HOUSE, the character of the island meets a carefully curated interior, where natural textures, warm tones and timeless pieces create spaces that feel both considered and deeply personal.

Among them, Norell’s Sirocco chairs — their leather and wood adding another layer of warmth to this beautiful Mediterranean retreat.

Two Siroccos, one perfect view.

Designed by Arne Norell in 1964, the Sirocco is an exercise in honest materials — turned wood, saddle leather and visible construction, designed to become more beautiful with time.
Here, a pair of well-lived Siroccos feels entirely at home against the Scandinavian landscape beyond the windows. Design made not simply to be admired, but to be lived with.

A quiet icon in a richly layered interior. Arne Norell’s Ari, designed in 1966, brings its unmistakable balance of sculptural steel and softly upholstered leather to a space shaped by natural materials, art and warm, collected details.
