🍫🍯 Caramel Butterfinger Bars 🍯🍫
Ingredients:
For the base layer:
1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, melted
2 cups (200 g) graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
For the caramel layer:
1 package (14 oz / 400 g) soft caramels, unwrapped
1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream or evaporated milk
For the topping:
1 1/2 cups (265 g) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup (130 g) creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 cups (about 6 fun-size bars) crushed Butterfinger candy bars
Optional garnish:
Extra Butterfinger crumbles
Drizzle of melted chocolate or caramel
Directions:
Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, combine melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well and press firmly into the bottom of a greased or parchment-lined 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking dish.
Bake the base: Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool slightly while you make the caramel layer.
Make the caramel layer: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the caramels with heavy cream, stirring constantly until smooth. Pour the hot caramel over the baked crust and spread evenly. Let cool for 10 minutes to set slightly.
Make the topping: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Pour this chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the caramel layer and gently spread it evenly.
Add Butterfinger crunch: While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle crushed Butterfinger candy evenly over the top. Press lightly to help it stick.
Chill: Refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours to firm up before slicing into squares or bars.
Serve & store: Enjoy cold or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for maximum chewiness and crunch!
