Bring a little taste of Italy to your kitchen with this classic Italian Supermarket Bread! 🍞🇮🇹 Perfectly soft inside, crusty outside, and ideal for sandwiches or dipping in olive oil. Who’s ready to bake? 🙌🥖
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
2 tsp active dry yeast
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
Steps:
1️⃣ In a small bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water. Let sit 5-10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add yeast mixture + olive oil.
3️⃣ Mix to form a dough, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4️⃣ Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
5️⃣ Punch down dough and shape into a round or oval loaf. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
6️⃣ Cover again and let rise for 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
7️⃣ Using a sharp knife, make 3-4 diagonal slashes on top of the loaf.
8️⃣ Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden crust forms and loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
9️⃣ Let cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy your fresh Italian-style bread!
