Here's a simple Taco Bell Nacho Cheese Sauce recipe that tastes just like the real thing!
Ingredients:
1 cup evaporated milk
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons Frank’s RedHot Sauce (or another mild hot sauce)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon whole milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and American cheese)
Instructions:
Make the slurry: In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and whole milk until smooth. This helps thicken the sauce.
Heat the mixture: In a saucepan over low to medium heat, add evaporated milk, butter, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and hot sauce. Stir well.
Thicken the sauce: Add the cornstarch slurry and whisk continuously until the mixture starts to slightly thicken.
Melt the cheese: Reduce the heat to low and slowly add the shredded cheese, stirring constantly until fully melted and smooth.
Serve warm: Remove from heat and serve immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, or fries!
Tips for Best Results:
Use a mix of cheddar and American cheese for extra creaminess.
Stir continuously to prevent the sauce from becoming grainy.
If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of milk and whisk to smooth it out.
