My son wants to be a specific refrigerator for Halloween. He was a specific stinky foot from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney, then HIS croc because he loved his new shoes, and on a recent trip to Home Depot, he found his costume for this year. He’s always challenging me creatively, and I cannot wait to see how this fridge comes to life this year. Make sure to follow along to see how this hysterical costume turns out!

I know there isn’t much we wouldn’t do to make our kids happy and make magical memories for them.

I was already making a different costume for my son when he told me he really wanted a Greninja costume. I don’t even know when/how he’s wearing these, but here we are.

We FINALLY got our sand slime to work after trying all summer. It was worth the effort, because it made such a satisfying soft, crunchy slime that is so fun to play with.

Here’s what finally worked:
About a 1/2 cup of white school glue
About 1 tablespoon of BioTrue Contact Solution
About 2 pinches of baking soda

We kept finding that the solution wouldn’t solidify with the sand included. We ended up making it work with the proportions above. We had a few batches that used more baking soda but they got hard very quickly, so eer on the side of caution and start with small pinches, you can always add more.

Next up in my ‘Turning Random Things into Wearable Costumes’ is this throwback to when my son wanted to be an American Bald Eagle. It was the first Halloween that he was able to really participate in the design process, and he was very specific in what he wanted. This was also my first time working with fur fabric which was an interesting challenge. In every costume I make, I aim to make it as wearable and comfortable as possible. It was so fun to engineer and make my son’s design into this unique costume!

I’m going to keep sharing more of these random things that I turn into costumes, so make sure to follow along. I am soooo excited to show you the hysterical and completely ridiculous random thing I’m making for this year!
