A graduate of the prestigious New York School for Interior Design, Julie brings a world of experience to every client collaboration. Interior design has always been a lifelong passion, beginning with the homes and apartments she's lived in from San Diego to Florida and on to her home in New York City. Color and its uses to create mood and harmony are hallmarks of her style, a passion from her years in clothing design. Prior to working in design, she had a successful career as a buyer of fashion merchandise for national department and specialty store chains. Her years in the retail business, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Business give her an excellent understanding of real life business decisions that must be made every day. "The style of designs I create is dictated by the client and the project. I strive to work in the genre of the client's needs and tastes, rather than dictating my style upon them." Julie has also chosen to use her gifts to give back to her community. As a breast cancer survivor, she worked in both 2010 and 2011 as Project Manager at Holiday House, the holiday-themed designer showhouse in New York City, benefiting the Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer research. While there she collaborated with many of New York's most talented top designers. Julie has a one-of-a-kind expertise, combining her interior design experience and business acumen with her training in the eastern art of Feng Shui. She is certified in Contempory Classical methodology, as taught by Metropolitan Institute of Interior Design, a Gold Medal program approved by the International Feng Shui Guild (IFSG). Her holistic approach will allow you to adjust your surroundings to stimulate your life. This process allows her to help clients realize their life visions and to create spaces that enhance THESE dreams. Warm wood cabinetry paired with beautifully veined stone creates contrast, texture and a sense of balance without overwhelming the space.

Color drenching doesn’t have to feel bold
or overwhelming. In fact, it can do the exact opposite.

When the same color is carried across the walls, trim,
doors, millwork and even the ceiling, you remove many
of the visual breaks that can make a room feel busy.
This creates a space that feels more intentional,
immersive and surprisingly calm.

What I recommend?

1 - Choose the color based on how you want the room
to feel, not just what is trending.
2 - Use different paint sheens to create subtle
dimension.
3 - Always test your color in the actual room because
natural and artificial light can completely change how it
reads throughout the day.

Color drenching isn’t simply about painting everything

I recently had the opportunity to attend the inaugural DesignPoint at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California. A collaboration between NKBA Manhattan & and FORGE created to bring designers and suppliers together in a more personal, intentional way.

Instead of the pace of a traditional trade show, we had curated small group presentations, one-on-one meetings, and meaningful conversations with brands and industry leaders.

I came home with new resources, new relationships, and plenty of ideas for what’s next.
