Fall has fallen. End of the garden. But the bee keeps hanging on ( it’s been there at least 15 minutes!) Will the tomatoes ripen indoors or should I make fried green tomatoes?

Three days of biennale and Settimana di Vetro The Venice Glass Week were way more than an eyeful. Here’s a VERY abbreviated selection of extraordinary work. I especially loved the piece by Maria Ali Magdalena Campos-Pins with Toni Morrison on the panel behind the stunning glass flower. Also the amazing lifelike glass flowers by Simone Crestani. Oh and Nick Cave was everywhere around the Arsenale. More to come. Sad to leave Mia città preferita

Such a pleasure to teach the floral design workshop The Duet: Flowers and Murano Glass at Grazie Mille to the sorelle Elena and Margherita and their staff. And to Luana Mazzega at the extraordinary where we would have done the workshop except for rain. However it turned out to be a site specific event, as the Micheluzzi studio was once a FLOWER SHOP!!!

I Finally met the fabulous Micheluzzi sisters- Margherita and Elena, who I’ve been communicating with in advance of our collaboration for The Venice Glass Week. They run the studio their father started ( and still designs for) and gave me a tour of the atelier where I could watch how these incredible glass pieces get made. We selected a few gorgeous vases for the workshop I’m teaching: The Duet: Flowers and Murano Glass. It takes place this Thursday (09/17) at 5 pm in the garden of the glorious Palazzo Venart There are a few spaces left. Email me asap [email protected]

The figs are back but the tree is taller so it is very hard to reach he ripe ones - for me - not the birds, who are feasting with abandon. And they’ve told all their friends which makes for great birdwatching. Not so much for jam making. I need a very tall ladder.
