One of my favorite details in the parlor: Philip Nimmo’s Forma Alcove Tables. ✨The gold leaf is kept to the inside of each base, so you catch flashes of it as you move through the room.

These are the rooms I want to spend time in. A fire going, plenty of places to sit, art with a story, and pieces that don’t feel too precious to live with. A few favorite living spaces from our W**e Country Getaway.

They also feel particularly fitting as I celebrate my first monograph, The Refined Home, with my dear friends Lee Stanton Antiques and Ann Ernish-Backen of Backen & Backen.

A room that rewards looking up, and looking closer. ✨ In our San Francisco Jewel Box in the Sky, a Phillip Jeffries silver leaf ceiling hangs above a monumental Dakota Jackson dining table, while custom Art Deco embroidery and laser-cut leather drapery bring pattern into the room. On the table, Ettore Sottsass candlesticks designed for Swid Powell in 1985.

A very good day at the antiques show. My client and I came across this 1940s André Arbus desk at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show The San Francisco Fall Show in 2017, and there was no leaving without it. The ebonized wood and patinated bronze details now have a home in her San Francisco pied-à-terre.

A little English spring in San Francisco. David Hockney’s “The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011” hangs above the kitchen banquette, its saturated landscape playing against the room’s dark cabinetry.
