Here it is. Santa Horseshoe Crab. It's not how a real horseshoe crab would wear a hat because it's a view of said crab from above. But it's how a representation of a horseshoe crab in ornament form would wear a hat and that's going to have to be good enough. Sometimes you can't let perfect be the enemy of good (enough). You have to just accept that any other way of putting a santa hat on a horseshoe crab ornament is simply not economically feasible or easily seen when hanging on a Christmas tree. Some things are not that serious. The crabs don't care. It's fine, Jen. Let it happen.

I will have these available at Arts in the Garden at Inland Bays Garden Center on the rescheduled date of Sunday, October 18.

Here's a little preview of what I am working on right now.... Grinding out Candy Cane Octopi that were soo popular last year (and I sold the last of my stock of them at the marina fair a couple of weeks ago), and also making NEW Candy Cane Crabs!!! AND even though they are logistically impossible in real life, SANTA HAT HORSESHOE CRABS!!!!!! I have gotten several requests for them. Even though it gave me a bit of an existential crisis about horseshoe crabs (I think they are neat but this isn't how a hat would sit on their heads), I was able to set that aside and make them. I will be painting the hats this week and will have them ready for Inland Bays Garden Center's Arts in the Garden on Sunday.
