This piece is a small, square Mission style table that could function as a small kitchen island or entry way accent piece. The top surface is painted black with some visible graining. The base is painted in a soft buttercream yellow with copper highlights on edges. The bottom shelf is decoupaged with a durable fibrous material and protected with sealant. The drawer has been treated in the same manner with a copper coloured k**b to match the edging.
It looks square but actually measures 18 x 19.5” and is 22” in height. It is a solid piece with a bit of weight but is not solid wood.

Just a brief rant in a place where no one will likely see it.
Furniture painting and refinishing is an acquired skill that can yield beautiful results on neglected old pieces. Furniture flipping is another story. Flipping is all about buying cheap and selling high without too much of an investment in time or materials. Therefore there are certain tricks that flippers use to disguise flaws rather than repair them. Transfers can accomplish this, but transfers are pricey. A much cheaper alternative is paintable wallpaper. Yes folks, people are covering furniture in wallpaper.

Another cheap fix is to buy “oops” paint from the hardware store….you know, those mistakes they make when tinting paint that are sold off cheaply. Now this paint could be of any quality but will most likely be latex, which is formulated for walls….not furniture.

So here’s the deal. Wallpaper can peel. Latex paint can peel if proper priming is not done. You may be getting an inexpensive decorative piece that just won’t hold up to regular wear and you may end up peeling off the culprits.

What’s the solution? Ask questions. Ask about the type of paint used….a brand name does not guarantee the right formula. Ask about the “texture” on the surface. Many finishes can be obtained with specific painting techniques, but they can also be obtained with wallpaper. If the seller is vague with their answers, ask more questions.

These cost cutting measures are out there and have been seen in local ads without full disclosure. Be assured that none of the pieces you see listed here are covered in wallpaper and all have been painted with high quality “furniture” paint.

Can it be done cheaper? Yes. But it’s not.….and I welcome all questions.

What to do with old leaded windows? Make them pretty. Vintage leaded window painted black and lightly distressed. Pretty florals added to lower panes and French script to center squares. Frame waxed for protection.
Dimensions are 22 x 27”.

I admit that I held on to this one for a while….it’s so elegant.
Victorian solid wood frame with thick beveled mirror painted Coal Black with gold on sides and carvings. No flaws on mirror. Measures 22 x 13” and is ready to hang.
