You need to see the before of this one. 👀

The original kitchen in our Elevated Farmhouse had plenty of cabinetry, but the layout just wasn’t working for this busy family who loves to cook and host.

We opened up the main floor, made room for a large island, and completely reworked the kitchen to make better use of the space, while keeping the warmth and character you’d expect in a 1952 farmhouse.

Elevated Farmhouse.
Part Two 🤎

What do you do when an older home has the space you need… just not in the right places?

Upstairs, this farmhouse originally had four bedrooms sharing one small bathroom. Rather than simply renovating the existing bathroom, we reworked the floor plan taking one of the bedrooms to create a spacious new primary bathroom and walk-in closet, with direct access from the primary bedroom.

My client’s wish list for her new ensuite included a freestanding tub, separate walk-in shower, better functionality, and a space that felt calm and serene while still honouring the character of her farmhouse.

We layered warm whites, natural wood, polished nickel, soft earthy green and a classic checkerboard floor to create a bathroom that feels collected rather than overly new. The green doors and trim bring in a little more personality (and my client’s favourite colour), while the wood vanity and woven lighting add warmth and texture.

And the renovation didn’t stop at the bathroom.

We gave the stair landing a little update too, continuing the painted shiplap while preserving the home’s original B.C. red oak floors because sometimes the best part of renovating an older home is deciding what not to change.

The goal throughout this project was never to make this farmhouse feel like a different house. It was to make it work better for the family living here now, while creating spaces that still feel like they belong.

A custom window seat is one of the easiest ways to maximize space in a home.

This cozy reading nook is one of my favourite features from our award-winning custom home office.

Instead of leaving this wall empty, we transformed it into hidden storage, additional seating, and a quiet place to unwind. It’s proof that thoughtful space planning can completely change how a room feels and functions.

One of the biggest things I help clients with during a renovation is finding opportunities they never knew existed. Sometimes the best design solutions aren’t about adding more square footage—they’re about making every inch of your home work harder.

Award-Winning Custom Home Office

One of my favourite spaces from this project.

When designing this home office, the goal wasn’t just to create a beautiful room. It was to make every inch of the space work harder. From the floor-to-ceiling custom built-ins to the cozy window seat, everything was thoughtfully planned to maximize storage, improve functionality, and create a space that feels warm and inviting.

One of the biggest mistakes I see during renovations is not making the most of the space you already have. With thoughtful space planning and custom millwork, even one room can work so much better for your everyday life.

I love how this room feels equally suited for a productive workday or curling up with a good book.
