In the rush of daily to-dos, garden chores, and building a business, it is so easy to let the days just happen to us. But I'm reminded that a peaceful, self-sufficient life isn't just about the food we grow or the things we make with our hands--its about the environment we cultivate in our homes.
Intentional family time doesn't have to look like a grand, perfectly planned event. It looks like slowing down enough to let the little hands help add ingredients to the bowl or help knead the dough, listening to stories over a shared project, and choosing presence over productivity. It's about building a legacy of grace, one quiet morning or an afternoon at a time.
If you are feeling the pull to slow down and focus on what truly matters today, let this be your encouragement:
"Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV
The way most of us live, time is often treated like a resource to be spent, drained, or rushed and we wonder where time has gone and call it a thief. Scripture tells us to reclaim our time, making the most of every opportunity.
We redeem the time when we carve out time to look our children in the eyes, to listen to our spouses, and to anchor our households in faith. Today let's pray for the wisdom to see the sacred in the ordinary and the strength to say "no" to the noise so we can say "yes" to the people right in front of us.
