Granada, Spain was the last stop on this trip—and it didn’t disappoint.

brought the group of us here after touring their HQ and quarry in Almeria, Spain and they wrapped it in a way that really let us experience the city.

We stayed right in the heart of it. Walked through cathedrals, monuments, cobblestoned streets, and busy markets.

Dinner overlooking the Alhambra Palace at sunset. And a night in the caves watching traditional flamenco.

It’s one of those places where everything feels layered. History, culture, daily life- all happening at once.

And honestly, that’s what always translates.
Spaces and places that aren’t one note, but built over time.

A pretty incredible way to wrap up the trip.

Thank you.

This was the reason for the trip 👆
But being here always expands the lens.

Spending time at Cosentino HQ reinforced something I think about often—
not every material belongs everywhere.

Seeing them side by side clarifies where each one really works.

Dekton
Where performance leads. Heat, scratches, UV… inside and out.
(Also considering it for my own shower walls.)

Sensa
Natural stone, with added protection. Still organic. Still beautifully imperfect

And then this…

Éclos
A newer mineral-based surface for interior applications.

Refined, layered movement.

Highly resistant to heat, scratches, and everyday wear.
A different composition that reflects where materials are heading.

More flexibility. Better performance.
Without giving up design.

That’s the difference thoughtful sourcing makes.

Fun fact, in my early 20s I spent a few months living in Spain, doing print and commercial work. It was a season of life I don’t think about often.

Until now.

I’m back in Almería, Spain, the same coastal area where one of those commercials was filmed.

Work brought me here then. And somehow… it’s brought me back again. More to come.

Full circle, in the most unexpected way.

And just to make it even better, my friend managed to find the commercial while we were traveling here. Thirty-plus years later.

Watching it here feels a little surreal, and makes me smile thinking how that 19-year-old version of me might take all of this in.

I don’t think she’d be that surprised. I do think she’d approve.😀

Sintra could easily feel like too much.

Too many people. Too many “must-sees.”

Before this trip, we went back and forth—half day, full day, what’s worth it. We had a sense of what we wanted, but not how to completely shape it.

So we chose to customize it.

With the right guide, it stopped feeling like a checklist and started to feel curated. The noise fell away, the pacing made sense—and somehow, even with the crowds, it felt like our own experience.

And then a long lunch on the coast… one of those places you’d never find on your own.

That’s the difference.

Last day in Portugal. Off to Spain.

Lisbon feels layered in a way that’s hard to replicate.

Steep cobblestone streets, tiled facades, ironwork, and light that changes everything by the hour.

And then moments of contrast. Clean, modern spaces set inside centuries-old architecture.

It all works together without feeling overdone.

Historic, a little imperfect, and completely its own.

This is what stays with me.

There’s a whole layer of the design process that happens behind the scenes—
this is part of it.

Relationships, materials, and ideas that don’t show up everywhere…
so your home doesn’t either.

Grateful for the creatives behind it—like my friends at .

Outdoor kitchens are everywhere in Kansas City… but most of them stop at “nice enough.” As the exclusive KC source for John Michael Kitchens full line of luxury cabinetry, we get to bring materials and craftsmanship to the table that truly push the envelope — the kind of design that elevates how you live, entertain, and enjoy your home.

Stainless steel cabinetry offers durability our Midwest climate demands, but it’s the design intention behind it that makes all the difference. When layout, lighting, and finishes are considered with the same care as your interiors, an outdoor kitchen becomes more than an upgrade — it becomes a lifestyle.

Thinking about leveling up your outdoor space?
Let’s explore what’s possible.
