Don’t Decorate Every Inch

I’m going to say something that may be hard for my fellow fall lovers to hear:

You do not have to put a pumpkin on every available surface. 😂🎃

One of the biggest differences between a home that feels beautifully decorated and one that feels cluttered is knowing where to STOP.

Choose a few focal areas—the mantel, dining table, kitchen island, entryway or coffee table—and make those areas special. Then give your eye some quiet places to rest.

✨ Tammie’s Tip: If you’re unsure whether you’ve gone too far, take something away. If you don’t miss it, leave it out!

Fall decorating should make your home feel warm, cozy and inviting—not crowded.

The Rule of Three

Here’s one of the easiest decorating tricks I use all the time: things often look better in odd numbers—especially groups of three.

Instead of lining up six little pumpkins, try grouping three pumpkins in different sizes. Pair three candlesticks of varying heights. Or combine a vase, a pumpkin and a candle on a tray.

The secret is variation. Mix heights, shapes and textures so your grouping looks collected and intentional instead of perfectly matched.

✨ Tammie’s Tip: Before you buy something new, move around what you already have. You might be surprised by what happens when you group things differently!
