To the Designer Who’s Doubting Herself,

I see you. The long nights, the overthinking, the client curveballs that make you wonder if you’re cut out for this. I’ve been there — every bruised, uncertain, “should I even be doing this?” moment.

When I started my design business, it was during the worst of times. And yet… through all the scrapes and stumbles, I built something extraordinary — a 7-figure, multi-award-winning business that I truly, wholeheartedly love.

💛 The kind of business that lets me wake up every day feeling grateful — not just for the work, but for the freedom, the creativity, the purpose.

But here’s the truth: it wasn’t always pretty. There were tears, fears, and (thankfully) cheers. The climb was lonely. The “what am I doing?” moments were real.

And that’s exactly why I do what I do now — coaching other design entrepreneurs to step into their CEO shoes and finally rock their business profit without losing their creative soul.

Because you, my lovely, creative, sensitive, smart designer sister:
you deserve to build a business that feels as beautiful as the spaces you create.

💫 Big things are coming in the new year — designed just for you.
Stay tuned… it’s going to be amazing. And yes, others who’ve had a sneak peek have absolutely L.O.V.E.D. it.

🗓 This Week’s Post: “Timing is Everything”

Girlfriend, let’s have some real talk 👀 - waiting too long to call your designer can cost you big time.
We’ve seen it happen - gorgeous homes where one door swing or tile choice completely derailed the vision.

The truth? Design timing matters.
When your designer, builder, and architect collaborate early, everything flows smoother - budget, function, and beauty included.

✨ Don’t wait until it’s too late - learn how early design input saves money, stress, and sanity:

: The very thing that makes us reeaallyy good at design (our creative, sensitive brains) can feel like our Achilles' Heel in business. We struggle with: naming higher fees, confident money conversations, and managing client demands. Sound familiar?

Okay, designers, let’s get real: I spent years in the trenches trying to figure out what actually moves the needle. Turns out, the missing link was under my nose the whole time.

In my previous post where I explored the “Pipeline-Filling Skills Nobody Teaches,”: the real revenue lever is how you speak your services. Not flashy jargon, not leftover marketing tropes but clear, compelling descriptions that distinguish you.

Here’s what I’ve unlocked (and now preach to my team):

💙 You don’t just “design for a living” — you sell design for a living.

💙If your competitors are using vague “we create beautiful spaces” lines, you won’t stand out.

💙The shift? Speak with benefits + specificity. Tell clients exactly what you do, for whom, and why it matters.

💙That clarity and distinct voice becomes your competitive moat.

So here’s my ask to you: rewrite one service line this week: simplify, clarify, sharpen it. Post your original vs. your new version below (if you’re feeling brave). Let’s help each other escape “generic purgatory.”

If your design pipeline feels slow or filled with the wrong clients, this blog from The Interior Design Advocate is a game-changer.

Donna Hoffman hits on something most designers overlook — your pipeline problem isn’t your marketing plan, it’s your messaging. The words you use to describe what you do can either blend in with everyone else or make your business magnetic to the right clients.

“You don’t design for a living — you sell design for a living.” That line says it all.

This post really nails how to define your true specialty and use clear, benefit-driven language that makes your value instantly recognizable. It’s a quick but powerful read for any designer serious about growth.

Hey design fam,

Quick truth bomb incoming: you can have all the gorgeous projects, all the aesthetic mood boards, all the social media sparkle… but if you can’t fill your pipeline, your business stays stuck in neutral.

In my latest Blog read (I’m always stockpiling good biz advice for you), I shared my Interior Design Biz Pipeline Secret #1 — and yes, it’s a game changer. The real magic isn’t your social media or your stunning designs (though those matter) — it’s your ability to translate your services into clear, compelling, juicy language that makes prospective clients say, “Yes, I need you.”

Here’s what I’m whispering in my own business mirror:

Generic statements like “We design beautiful spaces” just blend into the crowd.

Romance language (all flowery terms) is lovely — but insufficient.

What you need is simplicity + specificity + benefits wrapped in clarity.

That’s the “secret sauce” missing for 99% of design entrepreneurs.

Designers, I’m challenging you: revisit your service descriptions this week. Does it feel “me-too”? Or does it feel magnetic, distinctive, and unforgettable? 🤔

Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing a follow-up where I walk us through how to build this language framework for your brand.

Drop a 🎤 in the comments if you’re ready to untangle the generic and unlock your brand voice!
