Recap of Vivienda Collective’s first time visit to New York Build

A kitchen transformation inside a 196-year-old home in Middletown, New York.

Built in 1830, this historic home carried nearly two centuries of character — but the kitchen reflected a 1970s–80s renovation that no longer supported how the homeowners wanted to live and use the space.

The goal of this project was to respect the history of the home while creating a kitchen that feels functional, warm, and timeless for modern living.

Through thoughtful space planning, updated materials, and careful design decisions, the space was completely reimagined while still honoring the home’s story.

Starting Vivienda Collective has been a dream in the making. ✨

With over 10 years of experience in kitchen and bath design and a degree in interior design, I’m bringing a strong technical foundation and creative vision into this new chapter.

“Vivienda” means home or dwelling in Spanish — a reflection of my roots as a proud Dominican American and Latino American. Designing spaces that truly feel like home is deeply personal to me.

“Collective” represents collaboration — partnering with homeowners, builders, contractors, and fellow creatives to bring thoughtful, functional spaces to life. The best projects are always built through teamwork.

As we step into 2026, I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Comenzar Vivienda Collective ha sido un sueño hecho realidad. ✨

Con más de 10 años de experiencia en diseño de cocinas y baños, y un título en diseño de interiores, hoy estoy integrando toda esa base técnica y visión creativa en esta nueva etapa.

“Vivienda” representa hogar — una conexión directa con mis raíces como orgullosa Dominicana Americana y Latina. Para mí, diseñar espacios que realmente se sientan como hogar es algo profundamente personal.

“Collective” simboliza colaboración — trabajando junto a clientes, constructores, contratistas y otros profesionales para crear espacios funcionales y bien pensados. Los mejores proyectos siempre son un esfuerzo en equipo.
