How else will I find you, if I do not enter the shadowy place of prayer? There, where I have seen your face before. But I fear the uncertainty. Is that you, Lord? Or is it only my own reflection?

As he came from his mother’s womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand...and what gain is there to him who toils for the wind?
(Ecclesiastes 5:15-16)

“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave...”
(Matthew 20:25-28)

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like a grave that has been whitewashed. You look beautiful on the outside, but on the inside you are full of moldering bones and decaying rot. You appear, at first blush, to be righteous, selfless, and pure; but on the inside you are polluted, sunk in hypocrisy and confusion and lawlessness.
(Matthew 23:27-28)

“…let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12: 1-2)

The soul - parched, empty, and unable - returns to God and reaches out to receive.

My name is Elizabeth and I’m an impressionist painter based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In a modern impressionistic style, my paintings present the familiar beauty of flowers and landscapes in the dramatic color and rich texture of oil paints.
I am tirelessly struck by the design in nature: always magical, often graceful, and seldom expected. It fills me with admiration and enthusiasm to create and visually draw us to cherish and wonder at the beauty that we get to enjoy.
Each piece I composed embodies the joy and warmth that make a space feel like home. I’m excited to share these with you!
As mother of two young boys, I paint during glorious naptimes. I delight in having my nose in a good book - and if it smells like a Jane Austen novel, so much the better. My husband Chris and I enjoy biking on our city’s greenways, relish in slow morning breakfasts, and are always up for spending the weekend with family.
Feel free to reach out to me if you’re interested in a painting or have a question!
