One of the biggest misconceptions about hiring an interior designer is that we come in after the construction decisions are made.

In reality, some of the most important design decisions happen long before the pretty finishes go in.

Cabinetry, appliances, lighting, electrical placement, plumbing, flooring, tile, and even furniture planning can all affect one another. Bringing your designer into the process early helps create a more cohesive plan from the beginning, and help avoid costly changes later.

Another look at the blue kitchen we shared earlier this week... There’s more to this project than what you see in the finished photo.

During the renovation, our team discovered that the ceiling above the kitchen was never properly supported and was beginning to sag. Our experienced contractor immediately assessed the situation, and the proper structural solution required the installation of a steel beam.

Rather than allowing the unexpected issue to bring the entire project to a halt, we quickly adjusted the schedule and kept work moving in other areas while the steel beam was being prepared. Once it was installed, work continued in the kitchen.

This is the part of interior design that an AI-generated room doesn’t show you. Renovations can uncover surprises, and having an experienced designer and trusted team of professionals means knowing who to call, how to solve the problem, and how to keep the project moving.

A beautiful finished space is only part of the story.
