Sunmer is over…..whaaaat???
That puts us at 2 months until Halloween and less than 4 months until Christmas! Over the past several months we have tried to choose local over big box every opportunity we could from local grocery stores and farm markets, local feed and tack shops, thrift and marketplace over new because small business is suffering, we take for granted the sacrifices these owners make everyday to provide us a local, trustworthy products or resources and how little these individuals make on a hourly basis, because they are the last to get paid.
Times like these, where everything cost more, forces us to seek lower prices at big box/chain stores and I myself and guilty of choosing price over seller, but now more than ever we need to band together and save our local small businesses. Every sale makes a difference to a small business and their families.
So….with the best decoration worthy and gift giving holidays upon us, please keep @1797 Craftworks, Mark Boyd Home Improvement LLC and all of our local businesses in mind. Consider searching Etsy or FB for individual sellers instead of Amazon. Get a gift card to a local restaurant instead of a chain, seek out groceries stores such as Landis and Redner’s instead of Wegmans and Whole Foods, or even better local farms like Herd & Harvest Market and Trout Run Acres. Buy your pet food at local feed stores like Feed or Valley Feed instead of Tractor Supply. Landscape your yard with trees and service from Corkum Tree Farm and don’t forget to visit them or Starlyte Christmas Tree Farm when it’s time to deck the halls! Need a new fence….if you are local you may have seen a Royersford Fence sign or 100! One of a kind hand made jewelry, check out !
Companies like ours do not have the extra capital to invest in flashy ad campaigns and social media content creators to sell our products. We don’t have time to take 100s of pics every job and then spend hours each night updating our pages. Mark is being a present father (teenage taxi), taking care of horses and our home while running a business, planning materials, giving estimates and working on custom orders while I work 50-60 hours a week, while trying to figure out how we are going to cover the $6+/gallon diesel fuel, inflation, tarrifs and tax increases both on small business and on individuals (business income/self employment tax….business income-employment tax @24% personal) and the total supply chain impact it has on our very narrow bottom line and try to figure out way a for our business to survive another recession and for us to rely less on a corporate salary.
We rely on our customers, friends, family and followers to help businesses like ours, whose every customer, counts, to spread the word and share!
Anyone that knows us or have seen our personal projects, can tell you that there are many off the wall ideas that I have come up with over the years that we have not been able to tackle (Mark obviously take on the hard parts and has earned him the name “Poor Mark”and I just make it pretty)…in other words even if you do not see a post about it, doesn’t mean we can’t chat about it to see if it is a need we can meet. We work with all types of materials and tools, and most importantly, work with all types of budgets.
