Cleaning a dryer vent in Cary NC! This was after 8 years of not cleaning. The air flow doubled! Talk about a potential house fire prevented!

The dryer vent termination was cracked and not allowing the flap to close. I replaced the exterior guard with a nice new metal one that birds and snakes cannot get open. Check out part two of cleaning the pipe.

Yesterday, I went to Cary for an annual service with a note saying check for excessive soot. I found the logs and embers were out of place. This caused unburned fuel which is soot. Simply doing the manufacturer recommended annual service fixed her Heat-N-Glo gas fireplace.

Lighting a manual light gas log burner.

You will see that you need to hold the pilot on the valve while you hold a lighter to the pilot assembly. Once the flame sensor sends over 100 millivolts to the valve gas will stay on. You then can release the pilot button. Turn the valve to on then it allows gas to go to the burner.
