A few warm-up semi-blind-contour self portraits in the studio this weekend.

It's funny, I could never seem to capture my portrait when I did this at 17 years old, but now, I feel like it's easy.

I suppose living with this face for many more years has made me alot more familiar.

I feel much less concerned with total representation... and more interested in the internal interpretation of who I am as I quickly sketch these out.

More and more these days it's about discovering how I see myself from the inside out.

The "sister" piece to the last heart painting ppsted a couple days ago. These 2 pieces came together rather quickly (not my normal scrutinizing layer after layer for months).

These were painted in honor of my sister and a particularly difficult time she was facing.

I'm starting to realize that when I'm painting for someone, or with someone in mind, my flow is quite different, more intentional, more tuned in to what the piece wants to become.

Anyone else feel this way when youre creating with someone specific in mind?

I keep seeing hearts pop up everywhere, and it reminds me of how much I love hearts... the messier the better...

I'm just a little girl "at heart" and something about it makes me smile.

Maybe it's because, up until his passing a couple of years ago, my dad would faithfully send me a heart shaped box of chocolates every Valentines Day. Can't find anything wrong with that!

So from my heart to yours... have a beautiful day.
