Open Saturday at 10, and would love to invite you to come wander the shop and feel some apparel fabrics ✂️ 🩵

If you haven’t visited us yet there is always quite the selection: cottons, cupro, rayon, jersey, lace, stretch mesh, poplin, denim, athletics, linen blends, wool, lining, jacquard, rib knits, we could go on and on!

We love that the shop is tucked away in Sparks - we’re right next door to our good neighbors New Phoenix Pottery teaching classes and workshops.

You have to check out Manor Mill too - there is always something happening that’s interesting, creative or historical to bring the community together.

If you want a fine cup of coffee ☕️ head down Shawan to John Brown Coffee and if the pistachio bostock is on the menu don’t hesitate! You can also stop and smell the stunning floral arrangements 🌺 Hedgerow right next door.

Hereford Zone Community always has great advice on where to go locally for 🥬 farm stands, fresh produce, or local events. There are so many great places and people to visit. What are your favorites around here?

🎨 Incredible printing by Maggie! These beautiful Lino prints caught our eye, and Maggie mentioned the grey is a napkin but the dusky pink is a terrycloth she picked up when she visited us at Boho! ✨Another cool idea: Maggie sometimes wraps presents with printed fabric, a gifting style the Japanese call Furoshiki. We also think it’s a great idea because then you could take that unique fabric and sew it into something as well! The terrycloth print will likely become a shirt or sweatshirt and we can’t wait to see - please keep us posted!

🌊 At the beach in North Carolina and found fabric history! (Is it me or do I find fabrics everywhere?)🩱Fort Fisher SHS is hosting this fantastic exhibit and it was by sheer luck as we were there to visit the actual fort. The items on display are 100 years of beach styles, evolved from wool suits (water-repelling) in the beginning of swimwear to wool/cotton blends, then polyester and then nylon. I loved seeing the styles and fabrics change through the decades in front of my eyes and I think the kids got a kick out of the fashions too! 🏊🏻‍♀️

Question: do you sew everyday clothes with athletic fabrics? 🧘‍♀️We’ve found athletics are exceptional not just for sporty designs but also for dresses, skirts, wide leg pants, or layering pieces - they really hold up on the hot and humid days of late summer/early fall, provide stretch and comfort, and are great to travel with (easy to care for and wash - and usually wrinkle resistant). Would you stick to athletic fabrics for the gym only or sew with them for your everyday wardrobe? Let us know in the comments - pattern suggestions are welcome!👗👚

✏️Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been wanting to learn more advanced techniques, the Boho Design Studio space was made for you! Apparel sewing is the heart of what we do, and our goal is to help you create amazing garments by showing you the best sewing skills we can offer.

We’re working on the fall lineup of courses, but there are two essentials available now: Garment Sewing Foundations and Sewing 101 (it’s prerequisite).

🪡Garment Sewing Foundations is a four-part series designed to help you build real garment sewing skills: garment construction, apparel fabric handling and behavior, professional seam finishes, finishing techniques, pattern understanding and more. If you’re newer to sewing, our class Sewing 101 is a prerequisite, but students with prior experience (including seam construction, fabric cutting, and confident machine operation) can go straight into Garment Sewing Foundations. Starting October 3rd, 4 consecutive Saturdays, 3-6pm.

🧵Sewing 101 is a four-session foundational course designed for beginners who already know basic machine operation. This course is designed to build a rock-solid foundation from the ground up. Two sessions: four consecutive Saturdays 10:30-1:30pm starting Sept 12 or four Thursdays at 10:30-1:30pm starting October 22.

Stitching your own clothes and then adding embroidery 🧵for that extra special touch is what we’re talking about! We had a Janome expert come in this summer to train us on some of the amazing features of the machines, including embroidery techniques. We’ll post some more pics and videos and give you a play by play soon 🪡
