Week 7 of the One Room Challenge

Finally starting to feel like a real room again.

The flooring is in, the cabinetry is set, and most of the hardware has been installed — which means some of the layers we’ve been waiting on are finally coming together.

It’s definitely been a slower process than we hoped, and there’s still a long list ahead of us, but that’s the reality of remodeling sometimes. Things take longer than expected, materials get delayed, and even well-planned projects hit setbacks along the way.

Still a long way to go… but seeing pieces of the vision finally come together feels really good.

Week 5 of the One Room Challenge

A slower week over here.

We finally received the replacement tile that’s properly calibrated (which should make all the difference for the checkerboard floor), so we’re ready to move forward again.

And on a much better note—the lighting is in, and it’s even better than I expected!! The Paige semi-flush fixture in aged brass from the Mitzi collection is going to be stunning in this space!!

Some weeks are big progress, some are just setting things up to get back on track… this was one of those.

Week 4 of the One Room Challenge

Not every week is a big reveal.

We started tile this week and quickly realized something wasn’t right—the black and white tiles were slightly different sizes, which completely throws off a checkerboard layout.

It’s one of those details that has to be exactly right, so we’re waiting on a new batch that’s properly calibrated.

A good reminder that even with the best planning, things come up. That’s just part of the process.

On a better note, the chilled water bottle filler from Elkay is in and working—and that one is already a favorite.

Week 3 of the One Room Challenge

This is where things start to come together!

Tile layout is underway, Schluter Ditra is down (one of those behind-the-scenes details that makes all the difference), and we’re beginning to see the foundation take shape.

The hydration station is installed, hardware is in, and the finishing layers are starting to show up.

Yesterday was a big day.

After renting a small space here for six years, I finally put my name on the front of the building.

Nest has grown in ways I never could have imagined when I started, and seeing the signage go up makes it all feel very real.

My dad had drawn the Nest tree logo years ago, long before this business existed. I thought of him a lot yesterday and wished he could see where it ended up.

The showroom is still coming together, but this felt like a moment worth pausing for.

I am truly grateful for how far we’ve come—and excited for what’s next.

Week 1 of the One Room Challenge.

The mudroom sits at the center of the showroom—less about first impressions, more about how a space actually lives and functions day to day.

We’re layering Iron Ore cabinetry, a classic checkerboard floor, aged brass hardware, and a built-in hydration station.

It’s simple, but very intentional.

Still working through lighting and a few final details… and those might be what make or break it.
