Garage purges are labor intensive but so gratifying! In preparation for some remodeling, we needed to create space and we did just that. We purged and kept the things that needed to be kept but also provided a new holding ground for when the remodel takes place. It’s easy to put things back when there is a place for them to go.

That’s the whole point…creating functional “homes” for items that didn’t have one before!

Everyone usually has a room or a space that just becomes a catch all! This basement storage room kept all the things with very little functional storage in place. Every bag, box, bin and shelf was purged, decluttered, redesigned, reorganized and labeled!

Garage Reset!
It’s been a couple of years since the initial set up of this garage. The cool thing about this is that the system was still in place from that initial organization and this reset was quick and easy!

Life gets busy and some spaces just become your place to drop stuff! Garages are great for that and here we are! This quick reset just took a few hours, purged old and and reorganized the new!

Before and after of garages are usually pretty gratifying and this one is no different!

Outgrown toys, leftover trash, broken items cluttered this space with very little functional storage.
This 12 hr project included sorting through everything, hauling off donations, product pick up including storage bins and shelving, building shelving and reorganizing! It turned out so good!! 🤩

Part of decluttering is finding appropriate “new”homes for items. When you start the process, you want to put the items that don’t belong in that space in the space they do belong. This may add additional clutter to other spaces, but that’s just part of the project.
This is the beginning of a project that has several spaces to organize but you have to prioritize. Needing a space for overnight guests coming in that evening made this the priority! In a few short hours, we were able to purge, declutter, sort and organize items into their new spaces and create a functional guest room with a cute little sitting area! All other furniture was relocated to have a functional use within the house!
Next up…kitchen, laundry room, bedroom and bathroom! Slowly but surely everything will come together!

This basement purge and reorganization was HUGE!!
After 6 full car loads to the Rescue Mission and tons of trash for bulk pickup, this basement was functional again! We unloaded every storage tote and sorted all the items and reorganized based on the client needs. Bid farewell to the walking path and say hello to so much space!!!

Bedroom purge and reorganization!
I often tell clients that a simple reset of your space can help you develop a system that is sustainable to maintain because at the end of the day, being able to maintain your space is the goal!
I always say, “Getting organized is a project. Staying organized is a practice!” That was the goal with this space; reset a system that had fallen apart and was no longer working. We donated a ton of stuff which made the organization much simpler!
