Good evening, my friends!
Iāve been a little quiet on here lately. I just havenāt felt very inspired to share much.
But I snapped this photo before dinner tonight and felt like it was worth sharing.
My grandma passed away this past December, and I inherited three of her orchids, none of them in bloom at the time. If Iām being honest, I never really cared for orchids much. They were her thing, not mine. But in her last months, when Iād visit, weād sit together and talk about them. She had quite the collection. Sheād get so excited to show me new buds growing, or some quirky looking roots. Sometimes sheād have me repot them or trim away any withered flowers.
I didnāt realize at the time how those moments would stay with me.
After she passed, I honestly wasnāt sure Iād be able to keep them alive. So when one of the stems started growing buds, I was so excited. I kept wondering what color theyād be, talking about them all the time to anyone who would listen.
I will always have orchids in my home now, and their presence will always keep my grandmaās memory close. The joy these have brought me each day has truly been unexpected. Iāve even rescued a few other orchids from the clearance section, and I hope to bring them back to bloom. šø
Thanks for listening and I hope everyone is having a lovely spring. Until next time! -Holly
