I have had people to ask questions, and I have posted this before, but here it is again. I have no problem telling anyone about the dates on any food. All you have to do is ask. Thank y’all and look forward to seeing y’all tonight. 🙌🙏
For immediate release: Important regulatory reminder regarding the sale of dated food products at Paw Paw’s Bargains.
Per guidelines established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), date labels such as "best-by" or "sell-by" on most food products are indicators of peak quality rather than safety deadlines. Federal regulations do not mandate these dates—except in the case of infant formula—and generally permit the sale or donation of shelf-stable goods past their quality date, provided the item remains wholesome and safe for consumption.
However, operations in the State of Georgia must strictly adhere to regulations enforced by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Under state law, it is unlawful to sell or offer for sale any of the following items past their stated expiration or pull date:
• Infant formula
• Milk and refrigerated dairy products
• Eggs
• Fresh shellfish
• Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) foods requiring refrigeration, such as pre-packed sandwiches or ready-to-eat meals
Paw Paw’s Bargains is fully committed to compliance and consumer safety. While certain non-perishable, shelf-stable items may legally be sold past their quality date if they are verified as safe and unadulterated, we strictly monitor our inventory to ensure all state-regulated perishable items are handled in accordance with Georgia law.
