We brought the last of the dahlias to some wonderful staff members at Gray’s school. Now we start turning over the garden and prep our cool flowers.

Gray and I have been talking about the future and what we both hope happens with his micro farm. We like to dream big, but know we need to stay small. This is his 3rd season, we doubled in size and then we experienced so many losses and struggles to the point we had to think hard about continuing with the flower farm. We had to ask ourselves if it’s worth the struggles, should we scale back, did we grow too many varieties, what are our favorite varieties to grow? After thinking super duper hard, we have decided to grow Roses & Such. The farm is being flipped to all things roses and rose substitutes. Next season the farm will be filled with roses, peonies, Lisianthus and ranunculus. We are placing a large rose order and are awaiting corms and seeds to arrive. Thank you to everyone for following our journey to figure out Gray’s flower farm.

Gray’s Bouquets update: it’s been a tough year for Gray. First, the voles ate all his ranunculus and 95% of his anemones. Now, his tulips are dying with this crazy weather. Plus his flowers are behind and he’s super disappointed. On a brighter note: peonies should be blooming in the next few weeks! Yay!!!

This warm weather is getting us excited for planting new to us perennials! We are excited for more fruits trees, berries and natives. What is something that excited you?

These may look like spiders or octopi, but these are ranunculus corms. We started hundreds of these in the Fall and now we are starting hundreds more to plant out in the Spring.

Flashback Friday! I love pictures of Gray with his first year flowers. I’m so proud of his continued dedication to his flower business. One day that might change and I’ll be on my own, but for now we love growing together. Most of the reels I make because he is at school and really has no interest in the social media part. BUT!!!! If you see us liking ALL your pictures with flowers, it’s because Gray has my phone and that is his way of “cheering” on our flower friends. We hope you all have a great weekend!

Grow Along: Stock Katz and Iron mix
We love Stock for it’s fragrance.

How to:
*Lightly cover seed with soil
*Cover tray with Saran Wrap to create a germination chamber
*Place on heat mat until at least 50% of seeds have sprouted
*Move under lights
