Hello everyone!
We’re so excited to welcome all of our new members, and we’re incredibly appreciative of your support. Thank you for being part of our journey!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Megan Ewell, and I am the proud owner of Twisted Arts & Crafts. I wanted to share a little bit about how my journey as a small business owner and what drives me to do what I do.
Believe it or not, my story begins all the way back in Jr. High. I took a Home Economics class to learn how to manage a household on a budget, and that’s where I learned to sew. I loved it! I started making aprons, clothes, burp cloths, and more. However, with my busy schedule in school, sports, choir, and getting my first job at 16, I had to put sewing on hold.
Fast forward to when I was 27, pregnant with my first daughter, and facing the challenge of being a single mother on a tight budget. I remembered those sewing skills from my youth and pulled out my sewing machine. It all came back to me, and I started making burp cloths, blankets, and onesies for my daughter. I was able to prepare for her arrival, all within my budget! As time went on, I began making more blankets for family and friends, and even started gifting them for birthdays and holidays. I also donated to homeless shelters and hospitals to support my community. This was a humbling experience, and I felt it was important for my daughter to see the impact of kindness.
Three years later, I had my second child, still as a single mother, and life had its fair share of challenges. But I was determined to provide my children with a good life. After years of hard work, I bought my first home, and two years later, I got married for the third time. My husband and I made all the decor and flower arrangements for our wedding, and after selling our first house, we bought a second one, together, as a team. This was a new chapter of joy for our family.
During this time, I began painting, and my passion grew. I had so many paintings, I didn’t know what to do with them! A coworker, Lisa Ridges, became my #1 fan and encouraged me to pursue my potential. Lisa's son has special needs, and I created a custom art piece for his bedroom. I also made him a special blanket, which he attached to immediately, providing him with comfort during a difficult time. The gratitude and connection I felt with her family made me realize that my craft could bring real comfort and joy to others.
From there, I decided to turn my passion into a business, and Twisted Arts & Crafts was born. This was my escape from my own struggles, a way to heal, and it became a source of joy that helped me overcome my anxiety and depression.
As my business grew, I expanded beyond blankets and started creating my own body care line. I was tired of commercial products filled with harmful chemicals that didn’t deliver the results I wanted. As someone with tattoos, I needed products that would keep my skin hydrated, healthy, and my tattoos vibrant. That’s when I created a line of skincare that truly worked. It’s made from earthly ingredients, isn’t greasy, and keeps your skin feeling hydrated all day long. It even helps heal all layers of your skin, not just the surface.
Thank you for supporting my small business and allowing me to do what I love. Each product I create is made with care and intention, and I am so grateful for the community that has supported me along the way. I can’t wait to continue growing and sharing my craft with you all. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you again for being part of this journey!
With love,
Megan Ewell
