I didn't get very many pictures during the creek clean up yesterday at Arden Creek.
This is the first creek clean up I have been to that was organized for the creek that winds through our Carmichael area. Driving by in our cars it's easy to see how badly it is effected each flood we have. Large and small things up in the tree branches and visible along Winding Way as the water moves west toward the river.
Not until you get down in it. And REALLY down in it, can one realize the stagnant mess of human discarded items that are clogging up any possibility for healthy water ways.
In the first picture here, what looks like a creek bed with flowing dirty water.... is actually lined with old carpet, clothing, and everything except nature. The entire bottom. I wouldn't have known myself without the hooks and winch and tools others had brought to lift these items from the impacted earth.
My eyes have been even more opened.
Fish and tadpoles should be here.
I only dedicated two hours yesterday but all together the crew pulled out 5000 pounds from a 100 foot bank of creek beneath Auburn Blvd.
Thank you to every single person who comes to the rescue of the water. Thank you
Sacramento Picks It Up! And the serious dedication of those who organized this run.
Won't you join us in proving Sacramento is a city of trees, not trash?
